Mainly because of my psychiatric care provider who only takes original Medicare and Medicaid. It’s hard paying the approximate $200.00 deductible at the start of the year. I would rather be on an Advantage plan with no deductible and a per visit copay.
I have a Medicare Advantage Plan and I like it a lot. I have no deductible and seeing my primary doctor is free. It’s $25 to see a specialist. I even get good dental through it, and $200 every other year for glasses or contacts.
Why can’t you switch?
My psychiatric care provider doesn’t take Medicare Advantage plans. Only original Medicare.
i’m in the same boat. my psych provider won’t take advantage, only original medicare. i feel like i’m being shafted because of it. i got 144 medicare premium, plus maybe 70 dollars per month for psych co pays, plus 20 med copay, plus 20 med premium, plus my copays to see the normal doctors/nurses, plus supplements and eye/teeth doctors. i probably break three hundred a month just in healthcare. an advantage plan would cut these costs drastically. i would switch psych providers but i’m afraid of the unknown given how good my psych providers have been to me in the past aside from costs.
what is this 200 dollar deductible of which you speak? i dont know if that applies to me or not. i always pay a lot in psych co pays but the amount varies so much it’s hard to know why etc.

It’s the annual amount you must pay of the Medicare approved amounts before Medicare will pay. I think it’s $186.00 this year. If you’re are paying $300.00 a month, then you don’t have to worry about it. The $300.00 covers it.
Well we all have to make choices in our lifetime. I would think that you could find another provider that took an advantage plan but thats up to you.
