I don’t know exactly why but I get a whole lot of people calling me “buddy”.
I went for a blood test yesterday and when I flinched from having a needle getting stuck inside of me, the female technician said oh that’s ok buddy.
My guy cousin calls me up this morning and calls me buddy.
When I walk into shops or stores lots of the cashiers call me buddy.
Funny because when I used to work with special needs kids, I used to like calling a few of them buddy.
But they are children.
Am I reading too much into it?
I mean I am a middle aged man and getting called “buddy” seems a bit strange to me.
What do you think?

I think “Buddy” is just a generic term of address some people use. I guess there are far worse things people could call you.
People sometimes call me ma’am which I personally hate. Makes me feel like an old biddy.

Maybe you’ve changed without realising it and now people feel more comfortable around you?

Yeah in person I’m a pretty laid back guy so maybe people feel comfortable enough around me.

Hey bud, it’s like this. With this damn illness it’s always some weird coincidence that messes with our heads. If not buddy it would be something else.

I use that term a lot, mainly for people I’m pretty fond of.
I get called sweetie all the time I used to think it was weird but decided to not worry about it anymore
