Have you ever been able to get out of jury duty due to your disorder?

i have one of those “lucky” drivers license numbers. So far I have been called in for jury duty seven times! Once I served on a bloody murder trial. I ended up in the hospital the following week. I had my pdoc and my tdoc both write me an excuse to get me out of jury duty. I don’t know if it’s going to work. I am curious if anyone else has.

I was screened for jury duty twice and I didn’t want to participate so at the initial screening I told them that fundamentaly im a racist (im not I just didn’t want the job) and they cut me loose.

I don’t think that you are legally allowed to serve on Jury Duty, if you suffer from a psychotic disorder - I was excused several times because of my mental illness - it’s ok

I showed my doctor the jury note and she took care of it for me. They never called or wrote again.

I’ve only been asked about 4 or 5 times. I got out of it every time because of my schizophrenia.
The last time was last year. They give you about a month after you receive the letter to reply, if you don’t reply in time they give you a large fine, or maybe even jail or suspend your license. I’m not sure about those last two but I know you can get fined. For some reason I didn’t reply in time and I was broke and panicking but there was some loophole and they gave me more time.

I’ve been asked to fill out the paper work twice in different counties. Both times I told them I have schizoaffective disorder and they didn’t bother me again unless I move again.

I didn’t try to get out of it. I was on a Grand Jury.

One of the cases involved a likely psychotic person, so I felt he got a jury of his peers.

Yeah, I always get out. I use school or health as an excuse. Granted it’s true.

In the past I’ve had my pdoc write a note excusing me, and that was good for a couple years each time.

Ill never get asked for jury duty because I never enrolled to vote. The government prob doesnt know I exist. This is in australia
