Just wondering about it
L-theanine helps me calm down. I take it night with ashwagandha and magnesium glycinate. These are all supposed to be good for stress.
I take L-theanine sometimes during the day if I’m feeling super anxious. It works, but I also get very tired.
I too recommend L-theanine.
But you have to experiment with the dose.
Also not every brand is good. This is a great brand:

L-theanine helps a touch with anxiety and paranoia, but not a lot. It also has other health benefits and is worthwhile. CBT is what has helped me the most. I still have the paranoia, but ignore it.
Also, you could try this. It works great for me.
I’ve found that the only things that work on paranoia, (and voices, and depression, and anxiety and mania), are psychotropic medications, good sleep, low stress, drug and alcohol avoidance, and regular pdoc appointments.
And these are what my pdoc advised as well.
As far as diet goes, I would recommend watching your sugar consumption. And keeping your caffeine level under control can help. Getting rid of refined sugar, processed food and too much caffeine is probably the place to start - but I wouldn’t expect diet and supplements to cure me. I would still take whatever meds are prescribed for me.
‘‘Non-Supplements’’, yes, by which I’ve recently learned – no alcohol
Vitamin C is like natural AP, it blocks D2 receptor, also activates NMDA receptor, so generally it’s good for paranoia.
folians+B12 can reduce positive symptoms a little bit
probiotics are good for mental health
garlic (works at least on me)
Niacinamide keeps me sane. I went off for a little while and was losing it so went back on.
I take 500mg daily.
You should not take it if you have liver issues.
There is also a supplement called niacin which is almost the same, but niacinamide is safer for the liver and doesen’t cause flushing when you take it.
Please don’t believe in suppliments if you are schizophrenics. Do right medicine.
@Mr_Hope I tried Niacinamide but unfortunately for me it kept making my stomach sick so I couldn’t take it long enough to see if was helping my symptoms.
I am on clozapine and probably soon on amisulpride bc my doc recommended it
Nothing wrong with believing in supplements, as long as you realize they can’t replace antipsychotics, but work synergistically with them as a add-on therapy.
You might want to look into a ketogenic diet. Usually this is about 20 g of total carbs per day. It might also help with any clozapine associated weight gain. Check with your doctor, you should probably check your ketones and glucose frequently. Maybe get a keto mojo meter.
I also recommend the book Change your Diet Change your Mind by Dr. Ede. It has a lot of helpful information about the ketogenic diet and other diets that might be helpful.
You can also try a supplement with citrus bioflavonoids. They are often in supplements that also contain Vitamin C. Some people respond favorable to citrus bioflavonoids, but it’s a small percentage I believe.
