I’m in what we call the “salad bowl” of California.
Lots of avocados, artichokes, garlic, strawberries and lettuce come from here.
Other produce too.
Also wine.
@Charles_Foster
Sounds really healthy.
My city is known for it’s barbecue. It’s pretty good but I don’t eat out much. I get food stamps (thank God) and I prefer to cook my own meals at home.
We are a monoculture when it comes to food…we steal it from everywhere so England and Europe were huge here for long time but we are more into the local Asian markets these days. We also have lots of students and people from India/ Asia so it’s a pretty eclectic mix and not much we say is our own besides something like pavlova!
What about vegemite sandwiches? Lol! (To quote Men at Work).
Yeah but we feed it to kids and it’s like a sandwich spread. It’s good if a lot salty but I wouldn’t consider it cuisine! hahah
Love your work my friend!
Thank you friend! Love your work, too. You have good taste in movies and music.
What’s worse.
Spam vs Vegemite.
Totally different food groups…can’t compare!
pork pies are common here.
IDK. California. Santa Clara Valley. Yuppies… Fondue!
Also lots of Mexican food restaurants.
Used to drink Corona beer with lemon slices.
Healthy smoothies.
We have the Garlic Festival every year in Gilroy. Booths with everything garlic. Garlic ice cream, garlic salsa, garlic barbecue, garlic mustard etc.
I don’t know why, but there are a lot of Thai restaurants in Interior Alaska. I don’t go to them cuz they’re out of my pay range…a member at my clubhouse brought “muktuk” from her village up north and it was disgusting (it’s seal fat).
Fresh West coast seafood the sushi is excellent
Chicken rice, laksa, prawn mee, satay, chendol, ice kachang etc.
For St Louis don’t forget Ted Drewes
Full English Breakfast
Cream Tea
Beer (Real ale)
I agree with @rogueone. Australia has a lot of cuisine from other countries. So we don’t have an actual culinary culture. However, we do have individual food that’s quite good:
That’s all i can think of at the moment. I like the first 3, never been fond of vegemite.
Sugar cane? 15char
Only heard of vegemite - just realized its some kind of spread. Love or Hate it kind.
