In paper my diagnosis was always psychotic disorder NOS, but the docters talked about a depression case at beginning and also said that my case was sz.

i see so many misdiagnosied case and so many have developed into schizophrenia (like me) in the latter stage, i wonder if it is the latent period that had been misdiagonsed and the wrong medication (benzo/antidepressant) then push it to the development of schizophrenia.

what i want to say is that if u was diagnosied as depression / anxiety at first and had you not taking any psychiatric drug , would u still got a full blow to psychosis? if so , it is the schizophrenia itself, if not, the wrong diagnosis and the random distribution of these psychiatric drug are the main factor behind the psychosis.

I already thought the exactly same way…anyway, let me tell you, a sister of mine never took medication (she refuses), but her diagnosis was bipolar. She never told me that she had psychosis. So, possibly medication have nothing to do with the psychosis development or maybe it’s the main cause. I want to believe our brain develop the psychotic disfunction itself. I don’t want to blame meds or pdoc.

Buuut, your question is so pertinent…i will always think about this question.

in my opinion, psychosis is much worse than bipolar…especially in paranoia way

Yeah absolutely, i agree. My first psychiatric medication was antidepressants… i think i’m bipolar like my sister but she never took medication and never had psychosis that i knew about

I haven’t officially been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I think my psychiatrist is just dragging her feet. I like her but she’s kinda avoiding that diagnosis.

I was diagnosed with several conditions all at once including Schizotypal personality disorder, psychosis NOS, and later bipolar 1 disorder with psychosis.

We are not very close but i don’t know about any hospitalization of her and any psychotic episode. She recover from depression without meds.

I srongly think the pdoc chose to medicate me just to prevent…i think i never really need it…well, i was depressed because what happened in my life but they don’t gave me time to recover by myself. They hospitalized me right away!

feel sorry for u, but they hospitalize u right at first even though they said u got depression? it is very strange then

They said i had depression right away. (I said, no i don’t) but they medicated me at home and 2 days after taking meds i have an psychotic episode and got hospitalized. It happened this way.

can u tell me how is that psychotic episode, but in my opinion antidepressant can really cause psychosis , andthen we have to take our meds for life :slightly_smiling_face:
