Is religon scary to you sometimes?

I don’t even know who this man is.

The forums at richarddawkins.net are lively , you get predominately atheists posting their but by no means exclusively atheist. And there is a considerable amount of people who would not be
Militant on that forum. The forum is not a mouth piece for RD.

My comment was for Bryan originally , it sounds like his up for intellectual rigor and he was bemoaning why he could not have that type discussion on schizophrenia.com

What will be so cool when people ascend beyond the physical realm, and despite mans religious teachings, or atheist denial of the Spirit we suddenly witness the portal to the astral planes,
celestial beings,
And the abode of the High Ones and God…

@e_lunaseer I’ve already been to places similar to that first photo lol

If we’re just talking spirituality and taking the dogma of ritual and religion out of the equation…

There is a lot of heaven on earth…

i’m not in the habit of converting people so don’t worry but to be fair i can see why people would find it scary, infact there are a lot of reasons why people my find it scary and not only scary but other things as well, and even if you are not scared of it, it is still a massive thing to take in,

i mean it took Jesus 3 years to convince people he was the son of God and a prophet and also son man as well and he had to convince people by doing good deeds and miracles etc even ended up dying in the end and still people were not convinced so in this day and age, without these things it must be impossible to convince people that he was real and not just another story on the shelf.

thats why i am not going to attempt to convert people because there is no point, people have a right to believe in as much or as little as they want, its up to them.

It’s huge. They do have the debate areas for atheist discussion, as well as political, pagan, etc. There can also be debate among different denominations and doctrines within Christianity.
They also have a forum for mental health and one specifically for schizophrenia

Hey I’m doing fine man. The voices grow quiter and the delusions more distant. Got a job lined up. Yeah the big questions, pretending to know is wrong. It interesting to ponder but I never really settle on any beliefs. I decided to quit visiting this site just because it is a pretty closed minded place. They are only doing what’s right to make it a peaceful and open place. I just don’t care about the trite and mundane nature of the discussions here. We’re in the dark about all the workings of schizophrenia. All we can say is get used to it and it gets easier or talk to your doctor. I really enjoyed this site for a long time, but I’ve moved on to thinking about ■■■■ that’s not really welcome here. Now I spend m time watching YouTube video of Dawkins hitchens and bill maher and nye. More entertaining and enlightening than this site. Take it easy man this is probably my last post. No worries though I’m gonna be fine.

Christianity is big business. It is empty in some cases. It is damaging in other cases. It is down right devil worship in others.

Some ‘churches’ are no longer even following biblical ethics teaching but just following a pastor as they fill up his wallet.
Victims of the schizo may find the wrong people in some churches including gang stalking or verbal harassment of unwanted/unprofitable parishioners by adults. If you leave, you may be tormented worse by some of the church members than if you had kept your self private even if you do not discuss anything private with other parishioners.

Sadly, if you just discussed anything with the pastor, the parshioners are left with their tongues waggling freely on any topic so you need to discuss some vague reasons for leaving with a parishioner or two to avoid this. Worse, you can really find some unfit & active problem people in some churches and get to deal with more problems from them if you are assertive included followed around town and harassed in your employment. Even a time commitment for ANYTHING can haunt you if you renege as all of these time obligations are someone’s pet project that will haunt you in your community for a long time to come and even keep you from working there if you leave a church. This can even happen with the good people of the church as the gossips do not understand how much damage their waggling tongue can have on the lives of the victims of marginal means, even in larger communities.

Some of the Christian’s behavior is borderline devil worship and you may be hard pressed to find any law enforcement or court who will help you get a really upset or nutty ‘upstanding’ citizen to leave you alone. Worse, it could cost you your employment, get you into forced mental care and tortured by police.

Some are giving passive aggressive invites to some churches to invite in new parishioners to silence the demands of greedy pastor looking for more wallet to fill the pews only to find the place stiffling and deceptive.

Some do not find the peace in church for a while due to other parshioner’s problems, community shortcomings or stigma, I think the bible said a ‘service’ was any two people coming together to study the teachings in the bible. There is much more commitment to Christian beliefs holding a meeting in your own home with like minded people if you find your local religious teaching less than perfect.

I have been to numerous churches of many denominations. I found 2 or 3 out of at least 25 that were good and didn’t get caught up in all kinds of extremism. Of those good ones all 3 ended up having infighting among members who wanted to take over and did eventually take over, one putting out the pastor by force with a fixed vote against the guidelines of the churches own policy!
I have seen gang stalking, physical threats made, false prophecies, convincing teenagers they are demon possessed because they play video games, excommunication for breaking the churches rules that had nothing to do with Jesus, and even kidnapping and fraud!

I believe sacrifice is an attack. Scapegoat. This showed me I really am I not a Christian. I dont want the Blood of Jesus on me or anything else. It was the cruxifition that mattered, it was the resurrection that I remember him by.

i used to think that western and eastern religions were propped up by time travel funded by western governments to control the masses. in the middle east to halve the workforce by emancipating women and have less economic success in oil rich nations so that they wouldn’t become super powers and in the west to prop up morality and discourage anarchy and keep up the birthrate.

as for religion itself, i think it has a hell of a lot to answer for…or rather some people’s interpretation of it. in my life i have found some of the most religious people to be full of hatred and the most hypocritical when it comes to the teachings of jesus christ.

i myself am not religious but each to their own. sometimes i wish i was…maybe it would bring me comfort sometimes but i’d probably just get angry with god for allowing rape and abuse.

i believe in god and that what makes me strong and passionate.

I haven’t read much of this thread, but to answer the original question: yes. Religion is scary to me sometimes basically because most of my delusions and hallucinations were religious based. They were way out there and like where did that come from, as I was not a very religious person.

Now, to study much religion gives me an uneasy feeling as I don’t want to “talk to God” as I was when I was out of sorts.

When I was younger I had some sort of fantasy delusions, but what i did was write everything down and had like 1,000 hand written pages of stories. I used myself and friends as characters for the people, and then invented a bunch of demons that I was seeing in my mind and on occasion by sight.
Would have made a good horror story/movies but when i became a Christian I destroyed them. Some of the scenes got pretty gory, plus there was drug use and some sex woven in the stories.

Anyways, I used a creative outlet…though I wonder the more you write it down and a story unravels, the more comes to your mind?

No big deal…the demons lost in the end…

Yes, because I’m gullible in that way.
