i saw jesus once in my wall paper when i was a little girlā¦just a pattern of dots that looked like the face of jesus. it was odd. now when i think of that day i wonder if it wasnāt a portent of things to come. should i now have faith in jesus christ to guide me? i donāt know. he went against the grain didnāt heā¦maybe he was trying to tell me to stay strong for things to comeā¦or maybe it was a childās over active imagination lol. who knows. itās difficult. on the one hand he tells you to turn the other cheek and on the other he dies for what he believes inā¦conflicting messages i feel. dunno. would i have seen muhammed if i was a muslim? i donāt know. the brain is supposed to make patterns out of dots and ink blots so i guess it was just one of those things but just in caseā¦iāll sit on the fence on this one.

At one point I remember our pastor bullying its members that if they donāt give tithe theyād go to hell. Seeing that most members were uneducated I thought it was kindof abusive.

It got shortened to the infamous quote you mentioned. The way he actually said it isnāt so bad. People do find their heart, soul, and a sense of freedom from oppression through religionā¦and to some people it can act as a calming āopiateā
However, and unfortunately, religion (organized religion and cults) have been known to oppress the people as well.
In some senses he is right, but he carries on about mankind having to find their own happiness instead of the illusion of religion.
