is being over weight unattractive?
People have different tastes. My grandmother, for example, has always liked stout people. My ex girlfriend only liked skinny and toned people. It varies.
Yes. Yes it is. How do I know? Because when I was thin I had no problem with girls and I used to get looks.
Now that I’m fat it’s like I’m invisible.
Yes I think good health is part of natural attraction.
Its in the eye of the beholder, bro.
Being found attractive really has less to do with looks,
Of course, some features will always be valued above others in our culture,
Most people find confidence and ability more important.
Its evolution.
I was overweight (BMI = 30) and still got looks from women (not much younger girls though).
Most of the women I have dated, including my ex-wife, were plus sizes. I don’t necessarily seek out women with that body type, but I’m not at all bothered by it; it has just worked out that way.
And @GoldenRex is right, confidence is very sexy, makes a world of difference.
I agree confidence makes a huge difference.
me 2…I am totally over weight, I agree its unattractive …I guess 3 months in a desert might sort it
Its so true.
I’m not thin, and I have an eating disorder.
I learned to just fake confidence when I was younger,
Walk around like some sort of god and people notice,
Even if you aren’t perfect, pretend to be.
I’m a big believer in “fake it until you make it”.
Applies to so many things.
LOL this is horrible
Yep, its about health really, people generally seek out people that are healthy.
However life gets in the way…
I blame zyprexa…zyprexa made me do it
yeah I don’t like it either… one thing when it becomes an illness… another thing when you do not even care.
It is an illness to care for food so much like alcoholism is an illness and smoking … but people do not realize.
But there are far far far worse things than liking to eat food or eating food or gaining weight on medication.
I gained a massive amount of weight on meds. I love food too but it doesn’t quite satisfy me when I’m on some meds.
There is a big difference between being overweight and, ahem, obese. Being overweight shouldn’t be a barrier to being attractive, I would say. Some people look good however overweight they may be. They may feel happier also.
It is important not to always compare people for how they look all the time. It becomes pathologically unhealthy for everyone concerned. Anyway, I see it that way. I know other people disagree but this is how I feel about this. In the long term if you can’t accept the person for who they are you have no right to say they are unattractive based on their looks alone.
Someone mentioned somewhere on the forums that obesity is like a disease. I agree it’s people who are addicted to food. It may be caused by a pill under different words. May cause weight gain.
So much this. I gained 100 lbs and it’s like I don’t even exist anymore.
I gained 100 pounds and I don’t get looks anymore. People I know but haven’t seen for awhile almost seem repulsed by me. So yes I think being overweight is unattractive. My husband probably is repulsed but is too nice to say so. I’m so sad now.
I think that being overweight makes most people less attractive, yes. Most people look best at a normal weight. Not underweight.
