“It’s now very common to hear people say, ‘I’m rather offended by that.’ As if that gives them certain rights. It’s actually nothing more… than a whine. ‘I find that offensive.’ It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. ‘I am offended by that.’ Well, so ■■■■■■■ what."
[I saw hate in a graveyard – Stephen Fry, The Guardian, 5 June 2005]”
Funny how people telepathically seem to know what’s going on in my mind. I was neither offended by anything here, nor complaining that I was. I was complaining about people complaining about being offended.
You can resolve differences about offensive things without complaining that you’re offended. I don’t see how complaining about being offended helps in any way, other than perhaps shutting up your opponent, but that’s a roundabout way to do censorship.
Some people are bisexual. I know, some people don’t believe that, but it’s true. Women get to say they’re bisexual all the time and it’s sexy, but if a man says it, that just means he’s gay to most women. So lots of us are just gonna keep it to ourselves. Anyway, if you’re straight and are considering being gay, you might just be bi.
No offense, but you’re one of the last people I would listen to about LGBT issues.
It was offensive, we talked about it, we resolved our differences. No one felt persecuted, so please don’t try to make this into another anti-LGBT thing.
