Can antipsychotics temporarily alter your sexual orientation and stuff

Seriously because it can’t be a coincidence I went 24 years without any homosexual thoughts at all and then the next few years on abilify 15 mg and 20 mg I occasionally had some bisexual thoughts. It was more so on 20 mg than 15 mg. But on 10 mg I never have any homosexual thoughts whatsoever I’m straight as a freaking arrow. But on higher doses I thought I was a little gay.

I’m not trying to stir up trouble folks, it’s just yesterday I came to the realization this happened to me.

Actually I found this
In 2016, a French study reported that on a 28-year-old male diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder. After switching to Abilify from another medication, the study documents how the man lost control. He developed an addiction to gambling, which spiraled into unpayable debts. They also note that:

“Before being treated with aripiprazole, he was an exclusive heterosexual with a poor sexual activity. Under treatment, he switched to a homosexual behavior with hypersexuality, unprotected sex and sadomasochistic practices. The craving for gambling and compulsive sexual behavior ceased two weeks after aripiprazole was discontinued and he was switched to amisulpride. Thereafter, he reported a return to a heterosexual orientation.”

Abilify is a powerful drug, and it can affect people in a number of life-altering ways. To conclude the study, the researchers offer an important perspective that Otsuka needs to take into account when, where, and how they market their drugs. The truth about Abilify is that the “side effects are little known. They are usually difficult for patients to mention due to feelings of guilt. The consequences on social life, family and health may be serious.”

Patients understand this. Families understand this. Now it’s time for Big Pharma to get on board.

Is the source credible?

Another source

Among the other drugs featuring as triggering paraphilia is aripiprazole (Abilify). This drug sold as an antipsychotic and mood-stabilizer is a partial dopamine agonist. One of the surprises of surfing the data is how often drugs that have partial effects on the dopamine system, such as buproprion (Wellbutrin – Zyban), enhance libido and cause problems

@Jonnybegood. Yes there have been lawsuits involving addictive behaviors such as gambling with abilify. It tends to bring out mania says my psychiatrist when I start3d seeing her. I exhibit a volatility as a side effect, not pleasant

More than mania yo. It changed my sexuality altogether temporarily. That’s scary to me I started actually thinking I was bisexual all of a sudden at age 24. When it’s reality the meds?? Seriously??

I’m not sure if I don’t wanna go on a different antipsychotic even if 10 mg I don’t have this symptom.

■■■■ dude, I think there are effects on all meds. It’s a crap shoot. You might have to avoid an entire tree of meds

It’s not a bad thing to be bisexual

Except when you’re straight it’s the most terrible thing ever…since you’re straight.

Just like a gay person wouldn’t be at home having sex with girls, I have zero interest in anyone born a guy. It is a bad thing that a pill can do this to you.

Ps it was only when I was watching porn

Never saw someone in real life who was not a girl who I said “they’re attractive” but rather I would watch weird porn at times. Not wanting to watch it but being forced to almost by my hormones. Always feeling shitty and guilty and awful afterwards.

This was sexual orientation hell for a straight man if there is such thing.

so you think it’s all from Abilify?

I’ve never heard this before

but I’ve never taken it

I’m straight as an arrow too.

it may be increasing your libido which is making chastity more difficult and its moving into homosexual directions. try to eat just a little bit less and that may help.

It Decreases libido.

it may decrease your libido mentally, but bodily if its making you eat more it would increase lust. If you are eating more try to avoid meat and salt as much as possible.

No it was unnatural. Nothing to do with food.

I ejaculate 4-6 times per day off meds

On 10 mg it’s like 1-3 times per day

On 20 mg it’s like 2-3x per week

I know for a fact I have zero sexual desire for anyone Born a man.

It was fake

A switch in my brain was switched.

It was phony receptors being activated or something

Annoying being told I have gay desires when I’m a victim of a med distrupting my brain chemistry bringing fake ■■■■■■■■ desires.

It’s some ■■■■■■■■ and that’s the end of it

It’s not some unconscious desires being unmasked

It’s some BS and that’s that.

Dude. I have a friend who takes the same medication as me in the same doses. Fluanxol and haldol and sometimes he thinks he’s gay.

Has homosexual fatezies but they’re short lived.

I’m straight but I had intrusive homosexual thoughts, its called OCD. Once i took the med for ocd, they went away.

If you have schizoaffective bipolar type you can get hypersexual. Hypersexuality can change sexual orientation and things temporarily. In some it may exist even when well. It can even predate the illness going back to childhood. It can mean being adventurous or insatiable. It can mean becoming open to sex with people you would otherwise not want to have sex with. Acting out sexually in other ways.

Sex drive can become like a hunger. It can change in character. You may have an unquenchable thirst for other people. It is connected to the social parts of our brains. It is poirly understood, and rarely discussed in any detail.

<3% of folk have these diseases.

There is not a lot of information out there. People are secretive. People are embarrassed.

It can mean cheating on an exclusive partner. It is not you…or maybe it is. It can mean being turned by everyone and flirting with everyone. When someone comes down from mania, ideas and feelings might change.

Some societies don’t discuss human sexuality. This is a critical conversation to have.

Human sexual behavior might be altered or framed in an individual due to alterations in brain chemistry. Mania, psychosis…even taking psychiatric medications…these things change the way our brain works. We have to learn to work around those changes w/ our doctor’s help. The community can also help you understand what’s going on.

Insight is helpful, recognizing this stuff early on is helpful. You need to be safe. In any case, it is mania. You may or may not connect mania with your personality. Medication and awareness can help. Talking to the doctor and discussing different interventions which can be taken if you do not feel comfortable.

When I get manic I become kinda a pervert…toward women only though.

This is when I’m manic. Like when I came off meds I became very manic.

I fantasize, all I could think about is women. A women walks in the room I find attractive I can’t help but look to her.

It’s when I’m on a lot of abilify, have little hormones left, feel impotent and stuff. This is when I watched the shemale porn.

I only masturbated like 3x a week on abilify 20 mg. But one of those three were probably a transsexual porn

Off meds on the contrary, when I’m manic, I think about women women women women.

I’m so far away sure of the fact that I’m not gay whatsoever or attracted to transsexuals that I just know this isn’t the truth. “Mania making you gay”

No. Mania makes me think about females.

And abilify is 100% sedating for me. It’s activating in absolutely no way.

This is when I became preoccupied with transsexuals. I met a transsexual once was not attracted to her at all. I see a girl with an Adam’s apple. I am polite. But I am not attracted to her in any way. That’s just the truth. These meds ■■■■■■ with me real badly for 3-4 years. Being gay in no way is wrong, unless it’s WRONG, for u. Which it was for me. I know I’m completely straight and nothing will ever change that besides more abilify.

Some porn it’s ■■■■■■■ up. I wish I didn’t watched the Netflix doc about porn industry. I learn things that I didn’t need to know nor wanted

Watching transsexual porn doesn’t make you gay or even bisexual.
It just makes you curious a bit.
