Intermittent Fasting

I used to use intermittent fasting and calorie counting to keep from gaining weight when I was on seroquel and it worked. But i need to take Zyprexa and from taking it before, it’s a whole other level of munchies for me.

Has anyone found intermittent fasting worked for preventing weight gain from the meds?

Previously without meds I was able to reduce weight a lot using intermittent fasting. Now on Olanzapine and it is very hard to maintain weight or do intermittent fasting. I am trying though.

I did intermitent fasting before tsking clozapine. Very hard to do it dince I take clozapine. And gets me constipated as well. It’s like every minute of the day points to food.

Yeah it works when your doing other things too. Low fat, low sugar and exercise help too. I’m losing and have lost about 12kgs. Exercise and doing the keto diet. It’s hard work like any diet but it gets results. I’m still losing so I’m hopeful where I can end up.

What meds do you take @rogueone ?
Looks like you got lots of energy.

I take bottom dose of zyprexa 7.5mgs and mid dose of effexor 150mgs. It’s taken me years of chipping away and slowly building exercise into my life. I played amateur cricket for years so I’ve been active but it’s been a slow burn.

You just have to start somewhere and keep it regular.

I feel the meds downgraded my physical a lot. It made me so weak, i almost don’t know where to start from

I started with a fitness tracker and a simple goal of 10,000 steps a day. It took me years but I’m losing big weight and I’ve saved up for some decent gym equipment. I am up and down a bit with life and meds too but I fight hard and exercise all I can. It really makes a difference but honestly so does diet.

Eating right has more to do with it as I’m learning. Keto is pretty restricted but there’s some science behind it. You burn fat instead of carbs. It’s an interesting thing but as always you need to talk to your gp or shrink about it before doing any exercise or diet program.

I really enjoy your input into this since I am having trouble with all parts: meds, diet and exercising.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
