Went shopping for a jacket today and the prices were ridiculous. A decent looking jacket was going for $250. The cheap ones with the thin material were a $100 and they were little more then hooded sweatshirts or sweaters. I went with my sister but now we’re going to wait for the after-Christmas sales.
Good idea.
Honestly, I buy most of my clothes on off-seasons because of crazy prices. There are a few beauty items I need, but like you, I’m waiting for after-Christmas sales.
I get a lot of clothes at thrift stores.
That’s what my husband and I ran into this year.
I gained a lot of weight and my new coat I could afford isn’t going to be warm enough when it gets really cold.
My husband’s coat was just over $100 and it’s only good down to about 20F or -6.67C. I bought it for him as his gift. It was the best I could afford that would fit him (he’s very tall and muscular)
I refuse to buy new clothes. I either get or buy them second hand. 6 euros for a nice new sweater.
There’s the other kind of inflation where your waist size creeps up.
I bought my winter jacket on eBay. It’s a Woolrich. I paid 60$ for it. I bought it during summer so I got a good price on it.
I saved up for Sorel boots, and bought them in the summer of 2020, because I walk everywhere and I’m in Canada. This is my third year wearing these boots, they’re very durable, but they cost me over $200.
I’m using my summer and winter jackets for half a decade before I buy new ones.
I had to rebuy all my clothes
Have gone from medium to XL
Most come from eBay, charity shops etc
Since the falls I’ve worn t shirts and jogging bottoms. My daughter sorts my clothes for me.
Amazon has jogging pants on for a good deal. I got four pairs for $80 (though I had to take them in at the waist, but they fit like a dream now). If I had bought just one pair at Northern Reflections, it would have cost $60.
