And having to hang out on the forum to distract myself from being hungry. Today I only ate 1360 calories. I’m supposed to eat 1450 for a two pound weight loss a week. My pdoc advised me not to eat less than 1000 calories a day which is supposed to shut your body down.
He was okay with me eating 1450 a day though.

Sounds like a bit of a crash diet. Whats the rush to lose weight?

Mainly the osteoarthritis in my lower back. The pulmonologist I saw thought if I lost some weight and exercised it would help with my shortness of breath. Maybe I’m in too much of a hurry to lose some though.
Maybe I should have a banana for the extra 100 calories I haven’t eaten yet. It’s 11:25pm now, and my day is nearly over.

Well , I’m fat , so 1360 calories sounds awfully low to me, but I’m not an expert in this field.

I have never tried any diet but easy intermittent fasting few years ago. Just eating dinner early helped me shed some fat. I was not overweight to begin with. It still exposed my abs. I had more energy to do things as well.
My dad tried crash diet. Eating really low calories. Maybe for 90 days. It has boomeranged. He is back to yo-yo dieting. As obese as before.

Thanks @vyom Well my BMI is 36 which makes me Class 2 Obese. My goal is to get down to under 30 which would classify me as overweight and not obese. 18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal or healthy.
I’m trying to eat only two cookies a day. I’ve been buying them in a container of about 14 at the grocery store.

Thanks @Rester. I’m 6’0" and dropping my weight to 220lbs would make my BMI 29.8. I’m currently 268lbs. That would be a 48lb loss.

Disclaimer I am going to try my best to not be a preachy a-hole, and I try respect people’s decisions with their diets. I am going off of what I know from speaking to my dietician and being in a successful calorie deficit since the end of Janurary without too much “I’m starving moments.” Anything I say is not professional advice, as I’m not a professional. The main takeaway from what I type next is to speak to a professional in proper nutrition such as a dietician who has trained in nutrition for years. Disclaimer
Dude… That is very low. Talk to a dietician, please. I usually try not to tell people how much to eat or what to eat, but your plan is very low especially if you’re already struggling. Get an appointment with a dietitian. If you cut down calories by 500 a day you will lose weight. Find your total daily expenditure estimate, talk to a dietitian, and go from there. If I had to take a wild, uneducated guess, chances are you should be closer to 1800 a day. 1300 is a non sustainable crash diet for people of our size. Except for extreme circumstances, most people don’t need to lose 2 pounds a week. If you’re worried about eating a banana or not then you need some outside professional help with your diet. Worry about staying consistent at a 500 calorie deficit, vs crashing on a 1000+ calorie deficit and gaining it all back after your body screams for food.
When done correctly, being in a calorie deficit is an uncomfortable inconvenience, not torture. I’m not trying to make it sound easy, I know its not. I had to get my hormone levels in check, my sleep in check, and find a medication that does not turn me into Kirby. I guess I’m just trying to say you will make it a lot easier on yourself with a professional giving you knowledge along the way. It will make sustainable weight loss more realistic.
I got nothing but love for you @anon54988740, and I want to see you succeed without too much pain!
P.S. Talk to a dietician.

Thanks for the advice @Squanchy. I’ll ask my PCP about one. Do you know if Medicare covers dieticians off the top of your head?

I’m not sure, but I’m on medicaid and they did. Definitely worth looking into!

I don’t have many calories a day but I’m still a chubby thing.
I’m going to stop having breakfast then smoothie for lunch and little dinner.
How can I be chubby when I don’t eat much.
Medication maybe and menapause.

Thanks @SacredNeigh7 It’s nice that I am a guy. A long time ago when I was going to Weight Watchers meetings in person with my mom, the women used to get upset at how much men were allowed to eat. From that experience I know it’s harder for women to lose weight.

That was a commitment to join weightwatvhers.
I heard they have nice food.
I was getting lite n easy for a while but I was only getting breakfast and lunch and that’s all I would eat in a day but they included a fruit and a muffin with that.
I love lite n easy but it’s expensive to get that unless you are getting assistance and also they don’t have vegan options.

I know you are vegetarian, and I’m becoming one because meat has skyrocketed in price here in the US. Soy milk is cheaper than cows milk now. I’ve been eating a lot of cereal and milk. Veggies are cheaper too.
I’m lactose intolerant so I have to buy lactose free milk. I might as well buy soy milk.

What I found best was slimming world.
They count the fat intake not calories. And the foods are lovely x

Thanks @lovesong. It was my pdoc who said I need to count calories. I’m diabetic as well so I have to watch certain carbs and sugar.
