I'm on a diet and

I already ate half my calories for the day and it’s only 10:30 and all I ate was 2 bananas, a 1/4 cup of walnuts and a cup of coffee with cream and sugar. I plugged everything into myfitnesspal.com and it’s 550 calories already. I didn’t even eat anything hardly. Well no wonder I’m fat. I would consider those things snacks normally. Jeeze I’m gonna be hungry later when all I can have is carrots sticks or some crap like that. But when I start to see the scale go down I’ll be happy.

550 calories is half your calories for the day? That doesn’t seem like very much.

Oh, i don’t know, i’m not a doctor. It just doesn’t seem like a lot. I thought the average was 2000 calories a day, but i guess you have to consume less to lose weight. Don’t go by what i think! Did the doctor put you on it or are you doing it yourself?

If you exercise at all, you’ll want to increase your calories a bit. I use Sparkpeople.com and it takes into account your starting weight, your goal weight in what period of time, and your activity to give you a range of calories. Good luck wiht your diet.

I expressed my concern with my pdoc about how I gain weight on so little calories. like 1500/day now, and she assured me I have a healthy bmi. although she did seem to think I would be able to eat more than that but it’s not the case on these meds. when I was younger I had to eat 2500/ calories per day to gain weight.

1200 calories is the minimum that’s healthy without dr supervision.

I went from a skinny muscled guy to a guy with a gut and no six pack. After I hit 30 my metabolism changed.

That’s one of my favorite Peter Griffin quotes.

Man counting calories is hard don’t think I could do it,
Just remember at one point if you do eat more than your suppose to, don’t let it get you off track or upset. Just start tomorrow with a positive attitude about the continuous process of dieting.

Anyways good luck with your diet, the joy of losing weight is worth it I think .

Welcome to the calorie counting club. I took a week off calorie counting recently and gained about 4 pounds. So I’m starting again tomorrow.

If you want to lose weight you’ll need to start exercising. Restrictive diets do more harm than good, and your body would never let you eat 1200 calories a day long term.

When people want to lose weight they either binge on exercising or go restrictive dieting. These are bad.

Consult a dietician or nutritionist of your serious about losing weight.

It’s hard though, I had a harder time changing my eating habits than I had quitting smoking.

You’ll need to change your lifestyle. GL
