I'm learning the guitar

But I’m having trouble not touching the other strings

And not pressing hard enough on the strings.

I’m finding it hard to get the finger positions perfect

Any advice?

Just keep practicing until it comes naturally. That’s why they call it “learning”. Nobody picks it up for the first time and is instantly good at it. All these famous guitarists from George Harrison to Keith Richards to Spanish flamenco guitarists were once beginners just like you. They had to start at the beginning and got good at it by regularly practicing.

My advice is to spend some time just rubbing the tips of your fingers up and down the strings, to build up callouses. Once you have those, it will be easier to press hard enough on the very tips.

My callouses came in after like a month.

I have an acoustic guitar. I haven’t touched it in over a year lol. Guitar is way harder than the piano.

My Best Advice @anon90843118, is!..,

To Tune The Strings Lower. To Loosen up The Tightness. The Strings Won’t Be Hurting Your Fingers That Way. (Plus)!. It Sounds Cooler. IMHO!.

And Like it’s Been Said, After Some Focus, And Fun Practice it’ll Ring Like a Bell.

If You Look up On Google, Your Favorite Songs, [[[ OPEN CHORDS-(Insert Song) ]]]

You Can Find Something Fun to Focus on As You Get into The Program of Learning Thus New Instrument.

Yep!.

Yap!.

Yup!.

Yas!.

Uh Huh!.

It Doesn’t Have to Sound Perfect When You Are Jus Starting.

And if You Try to Sing Along With Your Favorite Songs. Once You Strum The Chords While You Hum or Sing Out The Lyrics. It’ll Hit You.

You Shall Be Pleasantly Surprised.

PROMISE (!!!).
