I'm a failure! Purchased some beer after 20 days

I only managed 20 days without alcohol. I’ve brought 10 cans and only had a few sips off my first can. I’m going to drink all ten cans and from tomorrow try again. I’ve got no excuse why I brought beer, just fancied a drink. I could just cut down and have a drink once a month. I do like drinking but it become a near everyday thing and I do become vulnerable when I’m drinking as people ask me for money which I’m too generous.

I don’t want to get into the habit off drinking everyday. This is a one off.

It’s very difficult to quit booze on your own. I had to get help.

Going 20 days without drinking is a good start - now you’ve got something to build upon. Agreeing with @everhopeful as I also needed help to put the plug in the jug.

Cheers.

likely, it’s not a good thing to say on here.

you notice, no acceptance of dual diagnosis.

what if you had said it, Daze?

gone within 5 minutes.

Maybe if you managed to go 20days without booze, and when you drink on the 21th, don’t count it as you have to start from day 0. Count it as you are going back one day, so you are on day 19 again. Next time you fail, go back 2 days and so on.

Abstaining for 20 days is a good acomplishment. Drinking only once in a while isn’t bad, unless you are alcoholic. I totally get the boredom thing. Sometimes I drink low percentage beers (2,5%), but it’s mostly for the passtime of the drinking in intself. I don’t want to get drunk, so those beers suit me fine.
