I wonder if my diabetes diagnosis is correct

I was on 20mg Zyprexa when I got out of the psychiatric hospital October 2008. Then at a free health screening February 2011 my fasting blood sugar was 137. I saw a doctor at a walk-in clinic, and he diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes. My A1C was 6.6. He put me on Metformin, and I switched AP’s to Risperdal. By November my A1C was 5.5.
My A1C runs 5.7 to 6.0. Last November I switched back to Zyprexa, and my A1C went up to 6.2 in March of this year. I switched to Abilify because of weight gain. This September I’m going to get my A1C checked being on Abilify.
My thought is I don’t really have diabetes. It’s the AP’s elevating my blood sugar.
What do you think?

It’s definitely worth discussing with your primary dr.

Even if meds are elevating your blood sugar, it’s diabetes. Drug induced. If you cannot lower your meds or change to one that doesn’t raise your blood sugar, you must follow a diabetes lifestyle.
