Oh that sucks I’m sorry. Being restrained sounds horrible… I was shackled by the feet a few times in jail when going to and from the mental hospital but never strapped into anything. At the mental hospital I saw a dude get restrained into a chair and it didn’t look fun. I’ve been forcefully injected with an antipsychotic before, it had horrible side effects that took months to wear off due to the fact that it was an injection.

I’ve never had to be in restraints fortunately. I’d really hate that!

I was strapped and restrained, injected with Haldol and Ativan cocktail in both arms.
This was 3 years ago.

Tw.

I was strapped and restrained I was put in the room with a camera. I mastirbated and they got mad. I also would flash the camera and they gave me like 5 injections. Then the next time a year later I was given the same thing twice when I dropped my food tray twice and went OOPS. I also tried to break the glass with a chair but only some other patient saw it. lol psych ward stories. Did any of you get put on supervision when you were a danger to someone or yourself

One time at a mental hospital they had a guy assigned to follow me around. Watched me sleep from a chair too, was pretty creepy. It was during an admission that was based on self harm, which I used to engage in the first few years after onset.

Been there, done that.
Well, actually it was a table but in the minds of those 4 burly orderlies, a table is as bad as a bed.

Exact same thing happened to me. I was strapped to a bed and for some reason I remember very well they had a sky on the ceiling but it was fake.

They injected me with meds and later get better

I was never restrained but heavily sedated, I was always cooperative since I had problems with authority at a young age.

But the things you see in psych wards, man …

akathisia or something else? which ap?

I did have akathisia, but the main problem was urges to self harm on a big scale. Harm that would cause irreversible damage to my body or complete loss of a body part. I would call them self-mutilation urges. The drug was injectible Invega, and the urges lasted a couple months after my last shot, then they went away. I’m surprised I got through unscathed. I was switched to a different drug after getting out. Zyprexa doesn’t do anything like that to me. My current case manager said I wouldn’t be given Invega again against my will. If they had just had me take the pill form I could have gotten off it quickly after the side effect appeared.

I contemplated asking for risperdal consta some time ago and am kind of glad I stuck to pills. I finally decided I was better off just being compliant.

When I overdosed on lithium I had a room sitter with me till I recovered. I don’t remember how long I was there. I was in and out of conciousness. But when I was transferred to a psych hospital the ambulance strapped me completely down in restraints. The nurse at the hospital i was taken to thought it was a little ridiculous. I’m not much of a fighter in the hospital or with police. I know it’s not going to end up well in my favor.

i have this mental image of someone doing what you said you did and am likely to have nightmares about it tonight. LOL

being in restraints and having to relieve yourself would be the worst of it.
