I need to make this choice. For my 35th birthday.
I hear you. I have the same problem.
I appreciate your support. Thank you.
You’re not supposed to drink with meds anyways. I even think its bad for psychosis. I haven’t drank in a long time.
I’m just very happy in my increase of Invega from 100mg to 150mg has helped me to be stable. I have problems with alcohol and with weight gain. I seem to be stable with these Meds. Better than I was.
AA is free and works for many people. They have online meetings avaliable.
AA is all about support. They say, “I can’t, but we can.”
@77nick77 I have considered AA. they have one in my town - I looked into it - I’m in denial - I know - I drink too much.
Thank you for admitting this. I make some really mean iced teas for parties because I don’t drink at all. Look up online some recipes for different drinks that are not alcoholic. I hope you can surround yourself with support for your birthday. Happy early birthday.
AA worked for me. Out of all the organizations I’ve known, they are the ones that really seem to want to help. All you have to have to go to AA is a desire to stop drinking. You don’t have to be an alcoholic.
Thank you for you much needed support… I’m a boredom drinking/binge drinker! Any slight bad thing that happen in my life I drink.
I tried most things. I want to stop drinking!!!
It sounds like you have the desire then.
I have no self control.
I get that. You’ve got to replace that desire to drink with something that won’t be harmful. Maybe find a hobby that really interests you. I know that sounds dumb, but when you feel that boredom, do something that will distract you from wanting to drink. Surround yourself with support so you have encouragement. You can do this.
When I first went to AA, the only thing I thought was that I had a problem drinking. I didn’t know if I was an alcoholic or not.
You can do it. Just keep trying until you’re successful. It’s definitely doable
That isn’t dumb, I can got a week with out drink. I do things like buy a timer safe that doesn’t unlock for one week, I feel my housemates I live with don’t help because I ask for money for beer and they give it to me (because they are my friends) and I ask.
Can you run me through the process how you joined AA please? Did you feel accepted when you went? I’m on denial?
That’s hard when you don’t have that support. I can understand the temptation. It’s good you can go a week. That’s great progress. You can’t change your life immediately. It takes time. No one is going to judge you for that. As others suggested you can do AA so you can get some support. I would suggest going to a gym or take a walk outside, anything to help stop the boredom. The more active you are, the less you will feel like your only option is to drink.
I appreciate your kind words @anon78876561
I mean this!
