Past 3 days - ive had to stop myself getting a drink. The cravings are making me irritable and moody. The only things that helping is that im low on cash till next week.
I going thru 3 litres of lemonade a day at the moment - cos i need a glass in my hand.
I hope to god i dont give in. My livers been playing up lately as well.
Im taking extra Seraqoul to take the edge off - but im obsessed with beer at the moment
Do you have any means to distract yourself? Are you a member of a support group? I understand giving up drink is hard. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Stay strong and use what resources you have at your disposal to help you through this. You can dfo this!
Try this and repeat after me - you might be surprised : “god ,remove my desire to drink.” or go to an AA meeting and talk about it like you life depends on it cause it does
@FadeToBlack They would just refer me to CGL (Change Grow Live). But i didnt get on with them before - they made a big song and dance about thier meetings twice a week - but often i was the only bugger there.
My father was an alcholic, I am drinking 2 or 3 beers ,I really like bon jovi I like the part of this song that says “trying not to do like his dady did” it helps me
Stay in control. Drinking in moderation seems ok but full on every day alcohol abuse will kill you. My best friend died from alcohol and so did my grandad.
I also get alcohol cravings, but probably not as much as you.
If I find myself craving alcohol, I sometimes make a hop tea. Hops are the main ingredient of beer. Hops are alcohol free and have a slight hazey dreamy like effect on my mood. I have to have it cold. It’s a refreshing drink substitute to alcoholic beer but it could help you avoid alcohol.
Thanks for posting @Naarai . Im drinking to much too, this is a good warning for everyone.
Even in sober periods i wake up craving a drink.
When i went to a rehab center, they said i was not drinking enough and with my diagnose (schizotypal) i wouldn’t fit in, and they are probably right about that.
I wish i had a good advice for you besides staying sober. Good luck.
Besides - i drink far less after i switched meds from seroquel to zyprexa. I think one of the mods once posted a paper that said that zyprexa decrease alcohol craving. In my case it does.
