I can’t say enough about my a p. It’s the best I know of for no side effects and weight loss…might check into it.
i like the old drugs too… i was feeling like haldol is the best for me. now after adding abilify to it tho, im kinda loving abilify. at least mixed with haldol. idk how it would be alone.
How long have you been taking it?
When did it start working, immediately or months or years?
Man, I’m pretty sure Fred Flinstone took this:
I had a horrible time on it. All kinds of movement problems and weight gain.
I think I took it in 1993
If it was Prolixen I was doing better then with no meds.
This was the year I got diagnosed and was trying all the old school meds like Mellerill, Navane.
I told my psychiatrist I would rather be psychotic than feeling so stiff.
I take Perphenazine though which came out in like 1950.
I remember it making my diaphragm cramp so badly I was having trouble breathing. Wound up in the ER because of it and they informed my pdoc I was going off the med.
Yeah, in the hospital they had me on 130 mg of Prolixen a day. They don’t even give doses that high anymore.
When I got out they cut it to 60 mg a day which is still abnormally high.
I take 10 mg in the morning, and 10 mg at night. sorry @shutterbug huh, I guess it’s not for everyone.
I feel the same about Abilify, but what works for some doesn’t work for others…
Geodon is still my fave, but I am finding Vraylar to be tolerable. It’s not the magic bullet for negatives that people were saying it is.
I can’t take Prolixin because I had a dystonic reaction to it and got temporary paralysis the first time I was hospitalized.
My ex wife did great on it though. She was even on depot injections of it but they became super expensive and she would hit the donut hole by July each year so we would appeal to drug manufacturer for a PAP. Eventually she switched to the pills but would play games with taking them so was getting more symptoms.
Flufenazine is one of the worlds seven wonders.
