Prolixin (Fluphenazine) questions

Hi, I’m new here and I thought I should ask a few questions on a med that’s been brought up to me a few times by my pdoc.

Prolixin (fluphenazine) came up as a recommended AP after I took a genesight generic test to see what med may work best for me. Seroquel (tried that and failed), Geodon (also failed), Invega (I’m very hesitant because I hear terrible things about it), Prolixin, and Latuda all came up as being metabolically compatible. I’ve also tried Vraylar (landed me in the ER with incredible side effects) and Abilify (gave me mild tardive dyskinesia).

Currently on Latuda 80mg, which handles my hallucinations well as well as stomped out my paranoia. But I’ve gained 40lbs from the starting point while simultaneously developing incredible nausea and vomiting. I can’t eat, period. Zofran as an anti nausea does absolutely nothing. Can’t lower the dose because 80mg is what worked for me, anything lower will just let symptoms through.

My question - has anyone had any experiences with Prolixin? Good or bad? I’m trying to decide whether or not to even bring it up at my next appointment.

I figured it might narrow down options for me since medication is such a crapshoot. So far only one has really worked and it still makes me sick.

It’s odd - I find very little information on it. No reviews, no mention of it anywhere. I don’t know a single person who’s taken it!

I think @Jayster takes it… may be @Twang. Not so sure …!!!

Haha i didnt understand @Jayster…!!!

Hey jay once u told ur brother Visited Nepal… is it true… i request u to come visit nepal as it is so cheap…!!! I bet u like it here…!!!

Some research on my part shows they’re within the same chemical class, they’re like practically siblings.

How’s your experience with your med?

I am on generic prolixin and I love it…no side effects …it’s like heaven to me…good luck.

I’m on 60mg latuda. Fluphenazine is probably related to perphenazine.

I’ve taken Prolixin before. It had a lot of side effects for me especially akathisia and muscle weakness. I don’t like how it made me feel. It may be worth a try for you though if Genesight says so.

Hmmm, thank you all. I guess I should do more reasearch and talk to my doc.
I’m afraid of making my tardive dyskinesia worse. Its so minor right now, but what I’m seeing whenever I look up prolixin is that it has high instances of TD. Maybe I should look into drugs that weren’t recommended for me in the test?

Exactly, my brother has been to Nepal more than once.

He ate califlower with hot sauce on it.

Jayster

Yeah, Brother did some mountain climbing.

I sometimes speak of myself in the third person.

The medicine I take is Perphenazine, aka Trilafon.

Perphenazine is similar to Prolixin, but definitely a different drug.

I was a young man, and I had a routine. It was a nice time in my life.

Those civil employees with whom I worked definitely didn’t want to strain themselves.
