I think I caused chagrin

I’ve been donating money to different charities, mainly overseas organizations. I think people are mad at me because I have given more to refugee organizations than I have to domestic organizations. Part of that is because I was afraid I had bounced a bank withdrawal, so I had to give myself a margin for error. But also, the people in refugee situations might die tomorrow. The situation isn’t as dire domestically as it is in Ukraine, Yemen, Afghanistan, and other places.

I have a hard time with charities.

The only one I give to regularly is the ASPCA.

If I feel I need to help a situation I usually find a way to meet a direct need of an individual.

Charities are good, but I’ve been told by homeless veterans how hard it is to actually get help from most of them.

I’ve found it most beneficial to just give cash.

People get on my case about giving money away like that.

Say, oh they’ll use it to feed an addiction or whatever.

But you know what, @crimby, it’s our money.

We can do what we want with it.

If you want to give to overseas organizations and trust them,

You should do it.

Don’t let others try to tell you what to do with your charitable efforts.

Do what you see fit.

Yes, that. ^^^^^^

There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to help refugees. And you should not feel ashamed about that. I met a few wonderful boys from Afghanistan when I was robbed and on the streets for a short time. By their own initiative they brought me food and protected me, even if they had nothing themselves. They were decent boys. They fled Afghanistan because they did not wish to fight for the Taliban, because it was against their values. The boys had just walked huge distances for safety. When people here bash refugees, or people who help them, I tell them about these boys. It is fine that you try to help. I personally do not donate through big charities. But there is nothing wrong with you, if you do. None of us really knows how to best help them, and you did what you could for those people.

The people in town. Various individuals. Small town people take notice of things like that. I think they watch my internet activity too.

Yeah, no. The only people that monitor that is the ISP. Normal, run of the mill people don’t have access to that and wouldn’t understand it if they did.

I have two charities I give to that are automatically deducted from my bank account each month. And I like to give to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital as often as I can. St. Judes takes children with diseases like cancer and treats them for free and St. Judes pays for transportation to and from the hospital, food lodging and all medical treatment. It’s such a good cause.

My young niece received treatment through st. Jude. Sadly cancer took her life. But I’m grateful to them and to you for donating to such a great organization.

Yes, St. Jude is always advertising on sites on my internet computer. If I ever get any money I would like to donate to them, too.
