I’m going to ask her if the other therapy group she offered me is still accepting new members end of August. I’m also going to ask about a new therapist.
Two weeks in a row I was the only client who showed up and it had to be cancelled.
The group I’m in is for people who have a history of substance abuse as well as PTSD. The other group, which has many members, is just for PTSD.
The bummer is my therapist is good at giving me useful skills but she downplays my issues too much. I suppose I could talk to her about that first before switching, I’m not sure what I’ll do.
Yeah have the chat before you move. Sounds like they help in some ways but I think that is the give or take with therapy. Not bad going into our meetings with an agenda. Like don’t get me wrong my psydoc is cool and very good but sometimes I go in hard to talk about what I want too. Otherwise it’s the usual like are you hearing voices ( which I don’t and still shites me ) ? etc and once every 6 weeks means it’ll just be wasted time.
Ok. Maybe I’ll hold off on asking my case manager for a new therapist. I’ll try to put my frustrations down on paper and bring that with me to my next therapy appointment.
Yeah, if you have a good rapport with her and get along with her it might be worth bringing the issue up. You could do a lot worse so maybe it’s good to hang on to her and just get some kind of understanding of what exactly you want to talk to her about at your sessions.
