I really don't know if what I'm experiencing is schizophrenia

First of all @anon52450205, you’re posting this question to a forum community of people living with schizophrenia who may or may not be experiencing similar things as you. Some of us who live with schizophrenia have more insight into our illness than others. Based on what you have posted here I think it is very clear you should be talking to a psychiatrist about your symptoms, so please do this right away. The prodromal (early ramp up) stage is gradual where the power (ability to convince your consciousness) of your delusions increases over time. Hearing voices, thinking you’re being watched, feeling paranoid, receiving secret messages, thinking there is a camera embedded in you or there are cameras everywhere enabling everyone to watch you … These are all pretty common types of delusions for people living with schizophrenia. Additionally you say you have been experiencing this for 3 years… Well the threshold for a diagnosis of schizophrenia is 6 months. Overall, it sounds like you are living with schizophrenia with a fairly intermittent but sometimes high level of insight which is confusing you but you should definitely see a psychiatrist as soon as possible so you can be diagnosed and possibly treated. Best of luck on your road to self discovery and wellness.

Thankyou so much. I don’t have that much insight because I really believe I have a camera implanted in me. It is so tough. I’m just tired of the world watching me and bothering. I just don’t know where a camera would be that’s the only thing making me believe this is just a delusion.

If that is your true belief then it is absolutely a delusion. I had several powerful delusions (and hallucinations) when I was acutely psychotic. At that time I had no insight into where the delusions and sense of reality started and stopped. No insight at all. My insight developed gradually after I was medicated. For me it took about 3 years to develop strong insight. For you, you seem to be in a stage of developing more insight. That could be as a result of responding to medication. Are you on any anti-psychotic medication?

Hey @anon52450205, Olanzapine was the first med I was put on. It worked well for me and after a few years the delusions washed away. It only took a few weeks for the hallucinations to stop. I asked my psychiatrist to take me off Olanzapine because I gained so much weight on it so he put me on Abilify which was a whole other story. Olanzapine is quite effective. Maybe you just need time. With time the stress you’re feeling should also become less and less. Good luck with your wellness journey.

Hi @anon52450205, if we both make it until August 1st let’s give up on this delusion that people can read and hear our thoughts. What do you think?

Thankyou but my hallucinations are still there.

I think thats a great idea @see121

How long have you been taking olanzapine for

I have been taking olanzapine for 3 years

Try clozapine, its 36% more effective.

Talk to your doctor and switch to risperidone or amisulpride first and see if the symptoms lessen, you can also try adjunctive abilify with those two medicine and see if it helps.

If these doesn’t help, then switch to clozapine

Hey I want to ask you, do you still experience your delusions?

Today is not that great for me. I just feel like I don’t have my privacy and I’m trying to understand how could there be a camera in me without me knowing. Im tired of being targeted by the world. Can I ask, do people on this forum experience delusions for over 5 years? Its been 3 years for me and everywhere I go people are taunting me. How can they see me? I’m tired of living like this.

Did you tell your psychiatrist? Did he switch you to Risperdal? If yes ask for Clozapine.

I feel for you. I’ve never been delusional for such a long time. Hopefully, you can find a med that works. You can’t settle for this.

I didn’t react well to risperdal and I’m afraid of the clozapine because of the health concerns. Can I just stay on olanzapine and take cbt?
