I mentioned to my therapist today I may default on a bank loan

The money is due September 26th. I won’t be able to pay unless things change soon. I’m trying to plan for the worst outcome right now though.

She asked me if I got with my case manager to go over my budget. I told her no because my case manager doesn’t have the time.

You have to contact your bank before you default and explain you’re having trouble. They’ll work with you.

I was schizophrenic in college. I was in trouble a lot. I found out when I was in trouble, I would sit in the office of someone who could help me, and I would try to make a friend.

I understand the kind of stress you are probably under right now. Try not to worry too much. It will be okay. These things happen and the banks and other creditors are always there to help you in any way possible. If this is your first time late ask them if they will waive the late fee and put you on a payment plan. I’m sure they will understand.

You are welcome. If you’ve already been late and just absolutely can’t pay it any more they will just try to call or write constantly for 3 months then sell the debt. Then those people will try and get you to pay. If it’s fairly small it will just sit on your credit report for 7 or 8 years as unpaid debt. They most likely won’t sue.

Thanks. No I haven’t been late before. I’ll see what they say Monday. It’s a $4,000 loan. Not small change.
