I’m thinking about trying aripiprazole

I tried Geodon. I may as well have eaten sugar pills. It did nothing for me.

I also tried Seroquel. I was super paranoid and gained 90 pounds in one year. Never taking Seroquel again!

Both those drugs helped me a lot. To each their own.

Ooops. I got my psychotropic drugs confused. Geodon is called “Ziprasidone”. Aripiprazole is a different drug.

Oh I see. Aripirazole is Abilify

I knew that, but I just could not recall the name. My mind is going.

You can try one tablet on haloperidol, but when I was on haloperidol and tried abilify ot gave me stiff muscles, dry mouth, very high anxiety and I was constantly eating every 2 hours and also insomnia. Maybe on its own is not that bad, but its a very weak med compared to other medication lile haldol, Invega

If you are sensitive to the effects of medication, it affects my attention span.

But overall it isn’t bad for me.

Good luck

Abilify nearly killed me. It’s a strange drug, probably meant to drive people insane and then flatten them out, cause inner torment and illness.

@Newlyborn I take 15mg of Haldol per day right now. I’m still paranoid though.

Thanks @LittleMissSlothy

@Cabra , I think it helps a lot of people it’s just not for you. I’m sorry you had such a horrible reaction to it. That really sucks!

Haloperidol wasnt very effective to me also, aripiprazole is a low-mid tier antipsychotic. I found my syptoms are much more controlled on Invega, I heard good things about olanzapine as well, have you tried it?

Ability works the best for me. I think you should give it a shot. Let us know if it works out.

Probably because I never needed it, never wanted it, I was doing good until given a shot. After coming off abilify, I studied the drug extensively. The MH professionals are fed some crazy misinformation to mismarket the drug, by it’s mechanism it is impossible for it to be motivating, it is just a some level of akathisia, which is more common in abilify than other antipsychotics.

It didn’t work for me. I was on 15 mg, I used to be on Zyprexa 20mg stable. On Abilify the first two weeks I would wake up in the middle of the night and talk alone, laugh, make jokes, sing… It gave me akathisia and after a month I was completely psychotic.

Yes. @Newlyborn , I’ve tried both Invega and olanzapine. Neither helped.

Ok. Thanks @Jake

What misinformation? Can you send me a link so I can read it @Cabra ?

Oh geez @CMBS87 . That sounds awful! I want to sleep through the night. I might give it a try still if my dr I’d ok with it, but I’ll look out for that for sure
