I’m scared. Really scared

I am having serious memory issues and learning problems. I can’t even pass the dementia test my dr gave me. I get brain lesions but top neurologists in the country don’t know why. It doesn’t match up with any known diseases, such as MS. I’m completely unable to work because I can’t remember things unless I write them down and refer to what I wrote. I don’t know if this is sz related or dementia. I don’t want to lose any more abilities than I already have. It’s very scary.

Are you taking any meds that mess with your concentration or memory as a side effect?

Benzos for instance?

Do you have SZ or sza?

Yes. I have sza-depressive type

Didn’t you somewhat-recently increase your activity level and lose weight?

I’d think increase in physical activity would help memory.

The memory problems come and go with me.

That’s associated with causing dementia style symptoms.

This list of medications been shown to cause or are suspected of causing symptoms of dementia.

Anticholinergics:
Benztropine
Tolterodine
Dicyclomine

Yes. I exercise regularly now and I lost 100 pounds (45 kg). But my memory just keeps getting worse

I’m sorry Zannah. I think it might be something you are taking. My eyesight… esp in the right eye… is getting worse because of the trihexyphenadil to stop the shakes the risperidone causes. I plan to try different medications in December when I’m on break from school. I’m afraid of getting weird side effects while studying …

My doc says memory problems come and go with SZA. It fluctuates.

A while back I was so concerned I asked my doc for a dementia test. She said to talk to my pdoc first
He assured me it was normal to have the problems. It isn’t fun at all, but can get better.

I’m glad. Just try not to worry so much. Sometimes it takes time to go away.

I spent months forgetting normal words!

Thanks again @anon4362788. I’ll try to keep that and the benztropine in mind and stay calm

Do you have Alzheimer’s ? It can be aggravated by stress.
