I don’t remember anything anymore. I can’t remember words to speak coherently or how to do simple tasks. I feel so blank. I heard that my meds did this to my brain. I told my husband I was going to stop them. He said absolutely not. Never. I believe that this will only get worse. I’m in my 30’s! I feel so trapped in absolutely everything.
You should discuss this with your pdoc.
I do have to say that my cognition was terrible in the first years of psychosis but got better.
You’re way too young to have most forms of dementia. Sometimes I think I am succumbing to dementia, but I am 64 years old. You might mention it to a doctor, but I don’t think it is anything to worry about.
I have talked about this before.
Sz and sza affects memory. My pdoc assured me, when I was terrified I had dementia, that it is normal for those memory problems in sz and sza.
Sza has a better prognosis for it because the memory proble.s usually occur in cycles. It gets worse, it gets better. I go through it every few months. Right now I am in a good memory part of the cycle.
Even though I’m reasonably intelligent, I have days when it’s comparatively harder to organise my thoughts . My anxiety level spikes on those kind of days. That doesn’t help matters. As I get older,I’m 66, I do worry about the risk of dementia. Thankfully those fears are unfounded at the present time.
I have major memory problems. Was tested it was a short term memory processing disorder but my long term memory is bad too. I basically live in the moment. I forget stuff in seconds. Nicotine helps. When i quit using it i can hardly understand or speak. Well i can already not follow what people are saying. But i dont think its dementia. Its sz and prob ling term changes to my brain from taking antipsychotics since age 11.
Are you on any benzos? They can mess with your memory.
Higher doses of meds will mess up your cognition, but it generally comes back as the dosage drops. Also, your brain is a muscle of sorts - you have to use it to keep it running best. Keep yourself busy with mentally engaging tasks to help with this.
