I’m curious to know

Is anyone’s parents here also/were schizophrenic? Or schizoaffective? Neither of my parents have it…
What was it like living with a schizophrenic parent?

No one in my family has a mental illness or a genetic disease. I guess it would be harder if they were schizo.

My parents don’t have sz. My mom has ptsd, my dad is a sociopath. I have a cousin with sz but that’s it. My sister L has bipolar, and my sister J has sociopathy like my dad.

That reminds me! I also had an uncle on my dad’s side who had schizophrenia. I think he was also a Freemason.

My father was MI but since he never saw a psychiatrist, we never knew his diagnosis. My father was an old school Mexican man and MI was a direct affront to his machismo.

My mom was diagnosed with psychotic depression several years ago. I suspect my dad has something but he’d never deign to seek actual mental health help. He’s so paranoid atm that it’s scary.

My parents are normal, except depression, which is quiet common, I think. I have an uncle with sz

It was pure Hell living with a MI, sz father. He was an ultra paranoid, abusive, rageaholic who just happened to be, in spite of his sz, a pedophilic monster.

My cousin is Schizophirenic, my daughters autistic
(probably my genes :frowning: ) and my mother has a personality disorder (ambulance chaser).

Didnt find out for years my cousin was, typical dysfunctional family i have - they brushed it under the carpet. No wonder hes had clinical depression for years.

Thats probably why i embrace and accept my diagnosis, and if anyone asks, i will tell them thats why i dont work. Im arsed if im gonna be ashamed of it.

Why would someone want to chase an ambulance?

Its a slang term used in the uk - to describe someone who phones the emergency services with the slightest symptom - to garner sympathy and attention. Therefore you are chasing for an ambulance.
