I have a confession about quitting smoking

I’ve been using the patches and the lozenges, I know you aren’t supposed to but I was smoking so much the patches weren’t enough, now I’m almost off the patches and I’m not sure I can quit the lozenges too. I might as well be smoking.

Nope. Lozenges are still better than getting all that ■■■■ in your lungs. Just keep trying. Don’t let yourself feel like it’s not enough to be worth it. Any effort is worth it. Just keep trying!

I agree with LED. I’ll be right there with you in a few weeks, California cigarettes are unaffordable.

I agree with @LED. If you’re just using lozenges then you’ve won ! Also you’ve broken the habit aspect of smoking.

Don’t go back to smoking !!!

yea, you and @LED are right, what am I thinking? It’s just the addict talking probably.

My dr said gum or lozenges with the patch are completely safe as long as you don’t use more than the package says

I’m just worried cus I only have a few patches left, then I’m done. But I still feel like I need the lozenges.

and they are expensive, more than cigarettes, but in the long run they will be cheaper because I will get off the lozenges

When I quit smoking for 4 months I changed lozenges with halls cough drops and it worked. Wish I would’ve been smart and not started again.

what made you start?

When I quit 4 years ago I was using the 21mg patch along with 4mg of gum.

how was it when you finally stopped the patches and the gum?

Was dating someone who smoked. It started up just an occasional drag but ended up smoking again

I haven’t stopped. :smiley_cat:

I lowered my dosage though, I went from 21mg to 14mg to 7mg in about half a year, then I dropped the patches.

Nowadays, I alternative between 2mg to 4mg lozenges. I take about 5 - 7 a day.

Once in a blue moon I go a day without nicotine; but everything becomes so boring and dull.

are you glad you don’t smoke anymore?

100%.

The physical withdrawal was tough too. The act of just holding a cigarette and smoking. That feeling you get, you know?

Seeing other people smoke was really hard as well.

I tried vaping but I still didn’t like the fact that I was polluting my lungs, especially with nicotine flavoured water.

I think it really helped me that I moved away from all the smokers that I know. Now I’m not around smoking at all unless I see someone on the street. That has made it easier for me. So I’ve stepped down from 21mgs in 2 months. I do about 5 4mg lozenges a day. I hope I can just ween myself down. I think I have 5 of the 7 mg patches left and about 30 lozenges then I’m hoping to be done with nicotine entirely. But if I have to get more lozenges that’s ok, I guess I will.

I think it was 8 weeks 21mg, 6 weeks 14mg and 2 weeks 7mg.

Take your time, nicotine is a hard drug to quit; especially for SZs.
