I smoke a pack in about 2 days… I will need an aid was wondering which one worked for you? Cannot quit cold turkey… Patch doesn’t work for me it doesn’t take care of the oral fixation part… Don’t want to Vape… Any input would be appreciated…
Do you have inhalators where you live? Little pen sort of things made by Nicolette? You use them in your mouth.
You could try lozenges (not gum)
I’m right there with you although I don’t smoke as much as you. A pack lasts me a week. I have tried several time to quit cold turkey and I just get extremely stressed out. Everything feels like it’s spinning out of control. I told my wife I quit months ago so the lie is killing me. I only smoke at work but I’m here 8 hours a day so…
I will look and see if we have them sounds like I could do those… @everhopeful lozanges would also be a good prospect… I’ll have to figure out where to get them … Thank you for you ideas…
I quit smoking after 20 years, about a pack a day, but I turned to chewing tobacco. So not a great replacement, but it worked for me.
Would like to quit all tobacco products. Want to be as healthy as possible. Increase my life span and avoid the long term side effects… I say that as I lite up a CIG… Have to go out in public today and nervous about it…
Yeah, I wanted to give it all up, I just can’t yet. Especially for me at work (the most social contact I get in a day), I need it.
Yeah it’s my go to for having to interact…plus it gives me an excuse to leave places for a couple minutes and be alone…
I smoked a lot more than you did, but was successful by quitting gradually. I cut down to 5 cigarettes a day and after months, cut down to 3 a day, than 2, than 1. I would smoke just a couple of puffs and save the butt for later use. It took me a couple of years to quit, but it was done with very little anxiety and I don’t really crave them. It is so nice to not have to worry about being out of cigarettes for whatever reason. By the time I was down to one cigarette a day, it was no big deal to quit altogether. If you’re truly in it for the long haul you won’t mind that it took so long.
Allen Carr’s easy way to quit smoking is worth a read.
I smoke a pack a day. I hate it. I mean I love it but I know it could be the death of me one day…
I heard of people who smoke more than half pack daily. you’ve got it fairly under control, dude.
I don’t know much about smoking. but I did stop watching porn, which was a major addiction for me…
so all I can say is that don’t be afraid of alternatives. remember that health is your priority (if it is?) so by smoking, you’re hurting yourself. even alternatives might be more healthier. they might not be perfect, but healthier. vaping, they say, is healthier. patches, they say, are healthier. gradually cutting back on cigarettes, they say, is healthier. so even smoking 1 less cigarette, each week, is healthier. Also, a community can help. keep in contact with others who have quit, like maybe jukebox and I think 77nick77. even 1 person can provide enough support to discourage you from smoking that 1 cigarette each week.
again, I know nothing about tobacco and its influence. I’ve only known addiction through porn, but porn addiction was the most powerful addiction I’ve ever fought; as I’ve watched it when I was very very young.
What i did is use patches in part and a hell of a lot of lozenges - 24/7
I ended up using a button to replace the lozenges for about 2 years this went on but I’m 11 years smoke free
advice - don’t give up giving up if you need more than one source of nicotine - i really think high dose is best
will be difficult to cause problems because it’s not easy to get nicotine poisoning
i think i was taking in about 30 - 50mg a day at a wild guess. I did used to smoke 60 though…
so for me it was the high dose and the NEVER stopping your attempt just because you have a cigarette
Think of it as a process you are putting in place to achieve something… if you call it a fail - your mind will believe you have permission to smoke and smoke!
In fact specifically to anything oral - do not take the patch off !! this will slowly teach you what life is like on a level with no more peaks and cravings
that is bliss when you get used to it
I quit using g the lozenges about 4 years ago. If you call the government stop smoking g hot line they’ll send them to you for free, or they used to anyway…
