Last night i stop taking melatonin of l-theanine due to high blood pressure. I wake up at 3.40am and feel exhausted this morning. I am afraid that i will become psychotic later because of not enough sleep. Can you guys recommend a good sleep aid for me that can be use for long term please? Thank you.

If you wanted to go a completely different route, I would try YouTube. There is something called ASMR and stands for autonomous sensory meridian response I think. The videos show people speaking softly and doing very calming things. They will probably seem strange at first, but concentrate on just the soft sounds. It puts me RIGHT to sleep. It’s very similar to assisted meditation, but instead you just watch the video. Don’t forget to put your screen on the lowest brightness possible. But because you were previously on melatonin, it not the best thing to try by itself. Maybe just on days where your new sleepy time pills don’t seem to be doing so great. As always ask your doctor first!
Sleeping is a problem for me too. Getting on a sleep schedule helps. I changed meds and I’m not staying up for days lately, so that’s a bonus. Also listening to something like music, white noises, etc distracts me from racing thinking while trying to go to sleep, and it’s easier to drift off for me. Caffine is probably a major factor on me staying up and as for sleeping medicine, I have not found any non prescription medicine that has really helped yet. Hopefully today goes smooth, and you have a relaxed day. PS - keep me informed if you do find a medication that helps with sleep, probably need to find something as well.
