I feel guilty

Ive been trying to lose weight lately, since i’m way over weight for my height. I was doing well for the first 4 days, but I just messed up and had a pop/soda (Coca Cola) I feel guilty and weak. Can I seriously not go a single week without a pop/soda? Pathetic. I have been eating smaller portions and healthier foods, and ive already dropped some weight… but damn coca cola is horrible for you right? Or maybe one soda wont hurt me? I hope everyones having a good night.

Well tbh. Its all about how many calories you take in, healthier options are suggested because they are denser in nutrition and have a low calorie high nutrients ratio. Coke and the like are hated because of the low nutrition high calorie. In my exp. I lost weight on a caloric deficit eating mainly healthy food but eating “dirty” from time to time.

But I mean I’m fat so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just find it easier worrying about my calories than worrying about what I’m eating and putting a label on things that are basically processed the same, lol

@77nick77 - Thanks, I feel even worse after reading that lol. Once I finish the remaining pops I bought before I started this weight loss, im not going to buy anymore.

One soda won’t hurt you. I think you’re doing great!!! You’ve lost a little weight. Celebrate that! And keep going! Don’t give up just because you have a stupid pop or two. I never let that stop me. And now my BMI is down to normal.

I’m not telling you to go crazy with the pop or with sugar in general. It’s really all about moderation when it comes to food and sweets, and also about regular, vigorous exercise.

Dieters usually slip up when they start feeling deprived - so I say, go ahead and have an occasional treat.

Look at it as a small, forgivable mistake, and continue on.

In hell they’re gonna make me exercise.

Coca Cola is like water for me. I’m in danger of becoming diabetic but I just can’t give it up. I feel you man.

If I could just limit myself to two, one with lunch and one with dinner (love how it tastes after a bite of good food) I’d probably be better off, but I also like the odd coke between meals as a refreshment.

I wouldn’t worry about an occasional coke. Have you ever considered switching to diet soda? My ex father in law lost 40lbs by cutting out sugared soda completely or by sticking to diet beverages. You’re doing great; losing a little at a time is better than giving up and gaining! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you! @Neytiri

If you expend energy beating yourself up for an unhealthy habit, you will have even less energy leftover for actually getting rid of the habit. Instead of berating yourself, maybe you can look into healthier alternatives that still give you some of the satisfaction of soda. For example, instead of coke, buy a nice juice. Or flavored seltzer. Or an iced tea. You can’t just deny yourself all enjoyable things forever and expect that to be sustainable. Soda is meeting a need in your life. If you eliminate soda, but do not address the underlying need, you will always go back to soda because you will always need a way to meet the need.
