I am freaking the hell out!

It was a maintenance man. The lock was keyed for my key that I already had. I don’t know how this could have happened.

I would ask them to key it to a new set of keys.

Hi @freakonaleash !!
I am sorry to hear you went through such a horrible experience.
If you think someone stole from you,
I think the right thing to do is to report the theft to police and replace
the key to your door.
I love you @freakonaleash, you are a dear friend, you are a hero with
your capacity to function in the face of your schizoaffective disorder.

Yeah, I told the property manager in my voice mail that I need a new lock with a new key.

Ok, I called for police. It won’t help, other than that having multiple police reports of robberies will give me grounds for breaking my lease. If only I had the money to move.

apartment? you live alone? no roommate? just the frezzer door is open?

Did something in the freezer fallover and knock other things over? or was food actually eaten? where is the packaging to the food?

Did you give some trusted person a key along time ago? maybe to check on you or a pet? did you used to have a room mate that has since moved out?

I was spending the nigjt at a relatives house that was using a sleep aid. She got up, ate food, re-arranged the kitchen island and bar stools, then went back to bed. In the morning I got a stern talking to about re-arranging kitchen furniture in the middle of the night and eating her yogurt.

The only other person who has lived here and had a key at one point would be my ex-gf, but she would never do something like this. She and I are on good terms, anyway.

oh. so No it really happened! i feel so bad for you.

tip: check your windows. crooks often flip the window latch to let themselves back in even after being discovered. undoing window locks is an old trick. also if you have a patio door secure that too.

I keep my windows closed and locked at all times, because of the kind of neighborhood it is. No patio door.

Another poster here said your place was busted into 2 weeks ago. If that is true, then at that time they may have undone your window latches knowing they would come back. That is wwhat i meant.

check on other stuff too: you Rx in medicine cabinet, firearms, checks, bankcards, etc.

you might need the police to come just so you can get a police report. That report maybe needed to show a clinic/dr for more medicine if they ran off with it.

Well, the police were here. They spent about 30 seconds talking to me. That’s about all I expected, though, for them to take down a list of what was stolen.

My landlord got back to me; there won’t be anyone coming out until 9:30 tomorrow morning, also about what I expected. So it looks like I’ll be missing another day at the new job, being out a day’s pay to make matters worse.

This is all such ■■■■■■■■.

i am so sorry @freakonaleash
Wish i could help you out …

Hope things work out soon

Yeah, I hope so, too. I need to get the hell out of here, now more than ever. It’s really affecting my mental health at this point.

Consider something like this, which is wireless and you can take with you, has no monitoring fees, and doesn’t even require a landline.

Hope it gets better soon. maybe you could ask your co workers and boss if someone wants a day off, you would cover for them for part of or a whole shift? maybe you could recover some of your lost work hours this way? maybe it would soften the blow of this just a little?

That’s a nice thought, but I’m brand new there, a trainee. I don’t know any of the jobs there well enough to fill in for another person.

I’ll look into it, but it seems these people can do whatever they want. Perhaps I just feel a bit defeated.

Can you adopt a large dog? My cousin did that when he lived in a scary neighborhood. Of course, this comes with all the responsibilities of caring for and training a very needy animal, but they make great guards and are very loyal.

If you aren’t up to that, maybe just a motion-activated recording of a dog barking would deter people,

Well, it won’t keep them from breaking in. But it will keep them from hanging out and poking around much. Those sirens are loud. I think it can also text your phone if you set it up that way. Plus, you know that you will be woken up if someone were to enter while you’re asleep.
