I always feel sick. Think I need to switch meds

So I’ve been changing how I take my geodon, and eventually upping the dose because I get withdrawal at the dose I was taking (don’t know why) but now that I’m at a higher dose I just feel sick all the time. I can’t escape it and its making it really hard to do my school work and socialize. If you have any recommendations about what to bring up with my doctor or weight neutral meds please help.

Latuda and I think Haldol are weight neutral

How do you feel sick? Like numb to things and have your cognition slip past you?

Its very physical. It feels a lot like very intense drug withdrawal. It feels a bit like I have the flu without the aches.

I’m allergic to haldol so as much as I liked it I can’t take it. I’l definitely look into latuda but I worry because I know it wasn’t strong enough for a lot of people on this forum.

Why don’t you give rexulti a shot. It’s very lovely.

Sorry to hear that. The right combo can help physical problems. I vomited for 3-4 years straight every day starting on risperdal, then fluphenazine up until 2017. I couldn’t go out to eat because if I ate past a fist sized portion I’d get sick. I didn’t really bring it up to my pdoc but sometimes I would get sick 2-3 times a day especially with coffee. I’d walk into work with Dunkin and then 2 mins later I’d go in the back to get sick. I felt energy after I got sick though

I’m really sorry about that. I definitely know how it feels to feel sick from meds. It really sucks though cuz otherwise geodon has worked really well for me.

Some insurances don’t cover latuda

You need to go to the ER right now so they can make sure it’s not Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome as it can be deadly. You don’t seem to have too many symptoms, but just to be safe, I think you should get it checked out.

I’ve actually been to the ER for this 3 times when the episodes got too intense. They have turned me away each time.

You mean they didn’t even check? FFS. All
schizophrenics must be delusional, right? Goddamnit. Can you call your pdoc and see what he says? Does he have an emergency line?

Did you mention the NMS thing? Don’t say anything about it. Just tell them that you don’t feel right and let them do all the work figuring out what’s going on. Do you have a fever? Do you know?

No I havn’t checked for a fever. The last time I had a check up though my temperature was high for some reason. My pdoc doesn’t have any way to contact him outside of appointments but I am seeing him monday thank g.od

When you went to the hospital did you bring someone with you to act as an advocate? If not, try that next time. They won’t listen to people diagnosed with sz but they’ll listen to someone else on our behalf. It’s what I do now for all my appointments

Yah I brought my parents who have legal paperwork that says they can advocate for me. Each time they just labeled it anxiety and sent me home with a bill. Sometimes I get so sick that I’m on the floor moaning and my parents want to call an ambulance. It sucks because otherwise geodon works really well for me, but I seriously cant take this anymore.

Is there a different hospital in your area? It sounds like the one you’re going to is discriminating.

There is a couple, and I’m thinking about going to another one next time.
