Why do you think that
Because psych wards are generally not meant for permanent residence. You will get out sooner or later. Just have to bide your time.

They let you have your cell phone? Wow, that would be awesome. I didn’t have any electronics or anything for a week. You’re fortunate

Yes (almost) all psych wards in Finland allow cell phones and even laptops
Psh, I could spend a week in the ward no problem then.
The only thing we had was a gym to play basketball/walk around in. Other than that, your only options were to draw or sleep. Or pace around for 12 hours a day, like I did

Yeah, I was bored too and wanted to leave, but they won’t release you until they are satisfied with your progress.
The only advice I can give you is to be honest and be well behaved. If you are unstable and are lying to them they will keep you there longer.

That’s good. Then you just have to wait it out. I know it’s boring but once you have demonstrated to them that you are stable, and they are satisfied with your progress, they will release you.
When I was in the psych ward there were people that would misbehave or escape and it just made things worse for them.

sheesh @Crystal-Cotton , i am almost like you now… I was too hooked up on my paranoia and some form of unpleasant excitement. I force myself to eat now too… The swallowing problem has a name, its called dysphagia. Maybe you are anxious or depressed. Me, ive lost even weight around my dysphagia, but this is not good to be done. I lack vitamins now, energy etc… So i try to have two meals at a day. Yeap, it happens to many of us, dont worry. Dont suffer that you are in the hospital, they can help you there

are you overweight? I started to take some vitamins and food supps, but i am sick too around my bad eating… Dont worry, me, i had 8 hospitalizations and you’ll be relieved. Me i take my klonopin now in order to eat sometimes, i am on zyprexa too.
I wish that you get stronger soon. Stay calm too!

Give yourself a guess of a month or two months, they want to get this right and sorted now while your in care. The drugs take time to metabolize and know if they’re working and sweet heart they care so much about you, I’m so sad to feel you being so upset at them. Young people with this illness don’t deserve any of this, neither do us old farts but we’re hard to care about.

Lie. “My meds are effective. I realize now that I can never stop taking them. I hear no voices at all. I’ll do follow up treatment as well”. Also, eat all of the crappy food. Finally, you could just ask the doctor to let you go. They’ve said yes to me before.

The best and surest way to get out of the mental institution is to convince everyone you want to stay there for life. They’ll make you leave in no time.
