I’m on SSDI Disability
I was fortunate, it took me about one month or so before I got approved.
But I have multiple symptoms, so it’s not so surprising.
It took me three months to get approved for SSDI.
Damn. That’s super duper fast! That never happens lol… I applied I guess 4 months ago and still haven’t heard about SSDI or SSI. Really hoping they get me at least on SSI so I can start to have money again.
I applied several times but was rejected.
I was granted temporary sick leave for a year where i did not need to apply for work during that year but I was living on new start allowance.
When the year passed i was required to look for work again but only part time.
I recently reapplied and am waiting to hear back from them.
I have heard that some one here was rejected but then reapplied with the help of a lawyer and was then accepted to be on pension.
I truly hope I get pension.
I would still choose to do things i feel i can do and maybe even find volunteer work i can do.
Caring for one person but with out the pressure of social support work cause i can go mute etc etc.
I think it can give a stability and security to get disability and can help people a lot and these people may still serve and do good in community and society in some way and form.
I believe I work and was even a workaholic but with my eyes, eons, spirit but not with my body and person but its still me…
I dont seem to be disabled then like i am in person.
Good wishes to us.
I applied multiple times and was rejected…
Took years…
I’m on round 2…I was too sick too fight for it the first time…plus my doc has a rule you have to have been with them for a year before the doc will send papers for you…so I’m waiting…its been 2 months…
I don’t remember what month it was. It was toward the end of 1976. I got SSDI on my first try. They back paid me to April 1976. My father drove me to the SS office. All I did was sign my name where I was told too.
Took me about 6 months to get accepted for SSDI. I had some rather severe episodes leading up to it so I got accepted on the first try. I’m very grateful for having it.
Two years and a great psychiatrist who helped get the sis.
I hate the spell checker.
I got my SSDI immediately after my initial interview. I had just been out of three hospitals so I think that helped my case.
I was accepted after one year on my first try. I had a couple major episodes and was hospitalized and I am sure that is what got me accepted. I am extremely grateful for my small income. I hope to (hopefully) be in remission long enough to get employed someday.
On disability in Australia so wouldn’t help you much with your questions. Was my understanding in the US getting a lawyer was crucial to getting it.
I hired a law firm but may not have needed to. They helped a lot, though, with the general process. I think it took a year to get it, but got some retro pay at that time.
Generally, you have to be disabled and not be able to gain “suitable” employment for at least a year straight.
I’m on disability (in the Netherlands, so I don’t know the American SSDI and SSI). It was superfast and I didn’t even need to be interviewed. Here, the employer is obliged to pay (part of) your wage for the first 2 years of illness. It was immediate, but I had regular conversations with a doctor judging whether I really couldn’t work. Then after 2 years you get a subsidy from the state if they believe you still have no opportunity to work. At the moment they wanted to screen me for that, I was just hospitalized with severe psychosis and literally not capable of talking to anyone. It was clear that I couldn’t work. They spoke to my father on the phone and it was done. Easy & fast. I do have a jobcoach now (on my own initiative, paid by the disability fund or whatever you call that) to see if there are still possibilities to get back to work in the future. They might even pay for a course or education or something. I still hope to one day return into a nice job again. I’m happy with the way disability is arranged in the Netherlands.
Very quick
Went off a few times to work
Still in trial work period
And immediately back on it
When you have kids and are on it
They get a check too
God bless America
