I had a pet Ball Python as a kid, so I’m not afraid of snakes, but after a few years they can be a boring pet. I’ve also had an iguana but they stink! My favorite was the turtles we kept in the back yard…we would feed them watermelon and earthworms.
I saw an article in the news where one state maybe Florida? People were finding snakes in their toilet… Could you imagine being sleepy in the middle of the night using the bathroom… uhh no thanks!
I would not be happy to see a snake in the wild.
But I would not kill a snake.
So, I don’t know how I feel.
Maybe it would be different if my best friend growing up didn’t have a snake.
She had me feed it and it was unpleasant.
I’ve since learned we were doing it wrong.
Poor snake.
my folks have snakes at their house in the summer. they’ll definately stare you down.
Respect, mostly. Here are a lot, 9 ft about, harmless but i go away when they are big.
They live in their holes in the garden, in spring they looking like flowers standing in the grass, only the little ones…
I’ve seen snakes in the wild on three occasions. Only once was it a “back away slowly” type of situation (a rattler was sunning). One was a grass snake, and the last looked like a king snake, but I’m not 100% sure on that guy. I did have to drag my dogs away from the 3rd snake. It wasn’t harmed.
They only bother me if I’m at risk of injury. Spiders, on the other hand, creep me right the heck out.
kill em all…hate spiders and snakes and parasites…some snakes are good though I was just kind of kidding…grandpa killed many poisonous snakes growing up on lake eufaula.
Ugh to parasites. Flea and tick preventative is darned expensive!
@Happy_H we buy the heartworm, flea and tick meds for the dogs…just got them started…it takes a heartworm test to get them on it but it’s worth it. and the flea and tick med we bought at walmart didn’t work…any of them !
I just tried a pill flea and tick on Smooch… maybe Saresto or something? Then Heartgard for hw preventative. Their pet insurance covers $75/year, which is just a drop in the bucket.
My daughter has always been one to throw on some Off! before going outdoors.
after the initial test (40 dollars) for heart worm meds, it’s only 30 dollars per dog to have the three in one…semperica I think it’s called…ought to do that…the flea and ticks stay off them.
At our house in Florida has some black snakes that have become living somewhere around the outside of our house
Our neighbors don’t mind and said they keep the rat population around us in control
If one got in our house when we leave the door open my dad would have a heart attack or something
I am deathly afraid of snakes
All my neighbors say get used to it as this Florida and this is their territory also
I wish we would stop electing them to positions of influence.
Most snakes over here can be very poisonous. I’m rather afraid of them simply for self preservation.
I like them, but also stay away from the venomous ones like a rattlesnake or cotton mouth snakes. I’m not as scared to the poisonous ones, as I have a healthy respect for them. Same with spiders. I generally like spiders, but respect the harmful ones in my area like black widows or brown recluses.
I hate any snake or spider within my whereabouts. Especially since i dont know the different types and lots are deadly here. But aside from the danger, they also just freak me out.
I’ve been seeing all the poisonous snakes in Australia. I don’t know how you guys put up with it, particularly the eastern brown snake. It’s the second most poisonous snake in the world, it has a taste for human habitat, and it is very aggressive. That’s three strikes against it.
I wonder if you could develop certain kinds of snake repellants that could keep snakes like the Eastern Brown Snake out of places they’re not supposed to be. Maybe you could set up little wires with an electric shock to repel snakes. Maybe there are certain smells that repel snakes but are tolerable for humans. Just a thought.
Yeah they are a problem but these days with housing you rarely see them in most urban areas. You get the odd one for sure and snake catchers make a good living. I live in a town with a name that means Land of the Carpet snake in the aboriginal dialect. A carpet snake is just a non venomous python and they are pretty rare around here. We did have a green python in our yard a few years ago so they do get around.
This made me laugh hehehe.
