My strategy for losing weight and controlling my blood sugar has become eating lots of vegetable and eating less.
I use a food diary app that calculates macros, calories, and nutrients. I weigh and measure my foods before consumption with measuring cups and a food scale, and I log every single thing that goes in my mouth. I also only weigh myself twice a month at the doctor's office so I don't get triggered by the scale. I also "plan" my cheats so that I don't over consume them. I keep trigger foods out of the house.
That all said, I'm also on metformin and Mounjaro, which both help my blood sugar and reduce my appetite.
eat on small plates…that way if you go back for seconds you’ve still only eaten one plate.
I have so many serious GI problems now. My body is not digesting or absorbing nutrients properly. I’m now always malnourished and starving. The doctor wants to put me on TPN permanently. They are still allowing me to eat by mouth so I can be human and enjoy flavors. Im losing weight but not in a healthy way.

I am doing time-restricted eating, a form of fasting. I started going 16 hours without eating each day and it did not help. When I got over 18 hours each day, my appetite abated. I am also limiting starchy carbs.
I try to focus on healthy foods.
Whenever I have a choice I go for the healthy option.
