Hi, im a heavy smoker that smokes a pack a day. I managed only to replace nicotine with a spray for 3 months and then returned to smoking. Could you share experiences and what you did to stop smoking?
I switched to vaping. It was hard at first and I still crave a cigarette. But I think vaping is healthier.
I switched to vaping too. I’m hoping it’s healthier than smoking.
I came down with emphysema, and I would have trouble breathing when coughing after smoking a cigarette. It was making me sick and I really wanted to quit.
I quit cold turkey and just lived with the withdrawal symptoms. They eventually went away.
I switched to rolling my own. It slows down how many you smoke, plus if you do like me and use big bags of pipe tobacco it is cheaper and has less nicotine.
Slowing down was easier, then quitting totally was less painful. I was quit for 4 years, then picked up vaping for the nicotine
Visit blu.com and buy a starter vape. The intense liquid pods taste nice. The rest are gross. I vape blue berry and tobacco. Vape pods have more nicotine than a pack of cigarettes. Perfect for quitting.
I tried gum, spray, patches, you name it. Finally I was able to quit with Zyban.
Zyban is the same as Welbutrin.
You start to drink it then choose a day between day 1 and day 20 to quit. I chose day 18 and quit cold turkey.
It was not easy. Cravings got less after 4 months. Its now more than 13 years since I quit. Its the best decision I ever made.
I also draw up a list of pros and cons prior to quitting. Whenever I felt like smoking, I went through the list.
I was a heavy smoker. I smoked a lot more than one pack a day!
I got stopped from smoking. Now I’m trying to protect my quit.
I used a bunch of D’s to stop. You know, delay, distract, discuss, drink water.
I’ve saved a lot of money by stopping smoking.
Quit smoking with the help of patches.
I was a heavy smoker too. It took me several serious attempts with the help from patches but I think I am a non-smoker now after not smoking for 15 years. I think I was successful because I got scared about my health. It also helped that I gave up the same time as family.
Yes, my doctor got my insurance to pay for patches.
Definitely, my doctor helped me quit smoking.
Vaping helped. It took a few months to quit it all. I didn’t have the money to keep vaping. My dad is still alive he had cancer cut from his left lung.
He has copd. Bronchitis. Diabetes. Two stints in his heart. Has had two heart attacks and a stroke.
I’d say your Dad wants to stay alive!
He’s a fighter. Everyone wants him to quit smoking.
I smoked 2 packs a day and then one day decided to quit cold turkey.
Havent looked back since.
Good! Don’t pick it back up.
Waited to get a nasty cold, then went cold turkey, and avoided booze. Although for a time, every time I had an alcoholic drink, I would have a cigarette too. Very difficult to quit.
I switched to a vape and then herbal cigarettes. Sage, mullein and mint. I know it’s still smoking but it’s healthier atleast
I quit because smoking was taking its toll on my health, especially the lungs. I quit cold turkey, but I had relapses where I bought a pack of cigarettes home from the store.
Eveuntually after smoking 1 cigarette from a pack I decided to just break the rest of the cigarettes in half and throw them in the trash. Did that a couple of times and then quit. That was about a year ago. Guess I got into a kind of psychology that there was no point in buying cigarettes anymore, because I would just throw them away anyways.
I wasn’t a heavy smoker so had few withdrawal symptoms.
I smoked for about 15 years but eventually gave it up because it made me feel like garbage. It wasn’t like that when I started but by the end it just made me feel sick.
I don’t even remember if I felt any withdrawal symptoms, although I think I was more addicted to the physical act and the ritual than to the nicotine.
