I quit smoking gradually, over many months. First, 5 a day, then, when I felt I could do it, 3 a day, then 2, then1, then 1/2, then only a couple of puffs a day. By that time, it was no big deal to quit altogether. The only thing I miss is the act of rebellion that smoking represented.
I quit smoking cold turkey. I wasnāt a heavy smoker, so it wasnāt too bad. I probably had withdrawal symptoms, but I didnāt recognize them at the time. Canāt believe I ever started smoking in the first placeā¦
Vaping has helped me.
I had to try to quit at least 10 times before I succeeded. Now, Iām smoke free for more than 2 years. I used gum from nicorette.
I used patches and constant lozenges
I used them all night and when asleep
I got an oral fixation and when I was only on patches i put a button in my mouth
Kept it clean
It was before vaping
I quit in hospital in 2006
I smoked a 50g pouch of drum a day
I think I was trying to kill myself
I consider tobacco my drug of choice
It was what floored me. I wasnāt willing to be uncomfortable and crave
So I smoked 60a day
It helps to hate it beyond belief
It helps to keep patches on even if you relapse on smoking because that still teaches you about less severe peaks and troughs
The level out you get from patches is really helpful
It was my 3rd serious quit
Used substitutes for 2yrs
I should say 3rd successful quit
Took many more rubbish attempts
Honestly when it comes to withdrawals from smoking, itās hard to notice after dealing with ap side effects, I used vaping.
The only thing that ever worked for me was cold turkey buddy system ---- find a friend to quit with
I have three months quitting cigs. I used the patch initially for 2-3 weeks and had weekly support from 1800-no-butts.
I used to smoke 1/2 pack a day, so Iām saving $150 a month! When I have a craving, I think about the hard work I put in to quit or supplement with the patch.
I havenāt smoked in almost 40 years. But, my wife recently quit smoking after having smoked for 50 years. And she had tried to quit many times before. She quit recently by using nicotine lozenges and nicorette gum as substitutes for cigarettes. She also chews on plastic straws that are cut in half. Also she sucks on hard candy. She also prays and asks God for help with her smoking.
My wife is doing a great job of quitting. I am very, very proud of her. Most of all, if she slips and has a drag or two, we donāt count it as a failure. We just drown her pack of cigarettes in water together, throw it away, and start over from there as if nothing had happened. And we maintain the original quit date and go on. These are her secrets.
