Here I am, watching paranormal shows again. Why do we watch things that scare us?

I’m very afraid of the paranormal,

But I always end up watching ghost shows.

Do you watch things that scare you?

I should turn it off, huh?

I do the same sort of thing. Read a lot of articles on things that really ramp up my anxiety. I think it’s a pretty normal thing that most people do, but for people with mental illness it could be a bit too triggering.

So, ultimately, I would say it depends how it affects you. Does it keep you from sleeping? Does it cause your anxiety to get bad enough to impact other parts of your life? Does it cause an increase in positive symptoms?

It can definitely cause a spike in positive symptoms.

I watch, knowing this.

It scares me at night, then I see things.

Normally I see things, but not normally ghosts.

Yeah, I would probably try to limit it.

I used to do stuff like that but eventually got bored of it. I used to find it comforting though.

@GoldenRex you should turn it off and find something fluffy to watch to take your mind off of it so you don’t get scared later. Garbage in, garbage out.

I completely avoid any horror film… I’ve already poisoned my mind in my youth with movies like Hellraiser, Nightmare on Elms Street…etc… But I do not watch any any more.

To give the illusion that there are things scarier than humanity.

The scariest stuff I’ll watch is Svengoolie, but those are the classic old horror movies that are cheesy, not scary at all but pretty funny!

I used to listen to a lot of paranormal radio, but I’m taking a little hiatus from it.

I’ve been feeling good. I’m unsure if it correlates with cutting out the creepy talk shows though.

I just got tired of all the news snippets, and the conspiracy theories.

I would rather read graphic novels, and watch quality films. And the occasional guilty pleasure B-movie LOL.

Ya I’ve been watching stuff about demonology

Honestly Movies, Music, Any Form of Entertainment Really,

Doesn’t Scare Me…,

Well Maybe Cannibal Holocaust And Audition And Texas Chainsaw Massacre…,

I watched a mini series of Dracula recently and i had weird dreams, i didnt think it would affect me like that but yeah it was very disturbing and it would only be seen as light horror but still :frowning:

I dont think we are supposed to view graphic scenes of death or anything like that, its how evil influences the mind, its a free pass.

I want to watch horror movies, but hubby (wisely) tells me no lol. Even the commercials/ teasers for them can upset my positives.

I try to stay away from demon based horror movies. Sometimes I will indulge but not often. I think I watch that sort of stuff because flat affect can get to me so sometimes getting that jolt of fear can let me feel alive. Probably silly to think that way but that’s my take on it.

Hope you enjoy your cartoons. Have a good night.
