Do TV programs/movies make you too anxious?

I’ve found it’s really difficult for me to watch anything new.

Not just because newer programming sucks,

But because I don’t know what’s going to happen.

I find myself googling how things end just so I’m prepared.

And watching a series that doesn’t have an end yet?

Nope.

As a result,

I watch the same things over and over.

Does anyone else do this?

Is it just me?

Yes I avoid horror movies, porn, and violent films because of the negative effects they have on me.

I don’t watch tv at all. occasionally I watch Netflix. But I can’t watch most comedies because it seems that humor now is all about humiliation. I get so stressed by it. It’s like I’m living it. So I don’t even try. I stick with sci-fi/ horror. I like watching incomplete series though. If I like it it is something to look forward too. Like I’m really looking forward to seeing the second part of Dune.

I used to watch television religiously and I stopped because of paranoia associated with interpreting messages in everything that I was watching

I watch the same movies. My gf always asks why i spend 45 mins scrolling through netflix even though im just gonna watch batman begins .

With tv shows ill usually watch part of the beginning then ill check a bit of the middle then ill skip to the end.

Im a terrible tv watcher

Also theres something about familiar movies that is just more comfortable.

Maybe its a comfort zone.

I never watch TV. And rarely go to the movies.

I still avoid paranormal or spiritual things. And no way I will go to psychological thrillers or horror movies or so. Also avoid things like death metal in music. But it got a lot better. I recently watched a movie about sexual abuse (Women Talking). This was okay. It’s mostly the darker paranormal themes, that are the problem. And will always be.

The news, documentaries, and reality TV make me anxious. I like shows where I can’t guess the ending – too many of them telegraph what’s coming.

yes, the only horror films I watch every year is Halloween one on Halloween night, and Angel Heart, a film with Robert de Niro and Mickey R’ourke. I stay in science fiction movies like Star Wars, and Indiana Jones. Die Hard is always good…and Roadie my favorite movie…open to watching new series…I am really interested in Wednesday and Game of Thrones.

I literally watch the same stuff every day .

I don’t do well with new stuff— can’t concentrate and the uncertainty of what will happen makes my anxiety flare.

So I just watch the same shows and movies— less to think about and it’s almost like a cozy sweater sort of feeling when I put them on, if that makes any sense.

They do. Can’t watch news like others around me. Neither shows. Make me anxious. I do watch movies on occasion.

I watched Ballykissangel, an Irish soap opera, ten × each episode. It is a really good show.

Nice to see you @Blizzard .
Haven’t seen you for a while.

I avoid such things as well.

Lately it’s been difficult for me to watch most shows on tv.
I stopped watching the news and tv but I struggle a little watching paramount n Netflix n binge even.

Been watching YouTube lately.

I struggle to watch anything now because I get too anxious and impatient and just want to know how it ends. I usually look up spoilers after all the episodes have aired and decide if it’s something I want to watch.

I’m like this with TV shows and also with computer games. I find I like playing/watching the same thing over and over rather than try something new. Sometimes I’ll get in an adventurous mode and try something new but it rarely lasts more than a few hours.

Me too, i watch the same thing again

I dont watch it because i dont know whats it about and the twist and turns in the story i dont like it its not real .

Example the latest fast and furious movie in the end they show a different story to make another movie i am like what need to watch that too

TV scenes of rooftop altercations always make me very anxious.

Only thing that triggers me is the news and extreme horror movies like A Serbian Film. And please don’t Google that one folks, it’s pretty messed up.

If by "pretty messed up,

You mean “super ■■■■■■ up”,

Yes.

You are right.

People shouldn’t watch it.

I can’t believe it’s an actual movie and not an urban legend.

Never say this to me. My daughter and son told me to not google “rainbow dash in a jar” and were so horrified that I did.

And no, please don’t google that one. Very gross.
