Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an inside linebacker and running out onto the field for the OU - Texas game? What an adrenaline rush!
cornerbacks are the best athletes. i was a big notre dame fan growing up, so i envisioned touching the “play like a champion sign” as they are coming out of the locker room.
when i played football we would run out and form a big pile and all the players in the back would jump up on top of the huddle. it was a big time adrenaline rush and you were worn out for the opening kickoff. that was just high school, but my high school has won a few state championships so all the old timers come to the games and support the team. i guess you have to be careful with the adrenaline thing the come down thing can wear you out.
Not so much now, but in the past the cornerbacks were the psychopaths on the field. A long time ago I remember that every time an OU cornerback made a hit you’d see his arm come up trying to tear off the guy’s head. It wasn’t just bad sportsmanship. It was dangerous. I’m glad they have made rules about that now.
yeah defenseless player and all. but cornerbacks now have to read and react and make quick cuts to stay with receiver, the receiver knows where he is going so has the advantage, and then they have to be careful not to get a pass interference call. if only they could catch haha, i remember ray atwater for the denver broncos was always levelling someone every week, it used to be glorified but now it’s a different game.
linebackers cant cover, ill take a slot receiver on a linebacker all day long. the only thing their good at is zone defense and a good qb will pick apart a zone time and time again. thats why all the good nfl teams play man coverage. the running game aint coming back in style, hate to tell you.
When Kevin Jackson played tight end for OU he was to fast for a linebacker to cover and to big for a safety to cover. He was like that in the pros. He was awesome.
