My damn back. I can bend over and pick up a microwave with no trouble, but when I do things with my hands, like washing dishes or weed eating the lawn the pain is really bad. When I was mowing the lawn where I live I would do one half one week and the other half the next week. Sweeping is hard on my back. I don’t know if it is doing me any harm to do chores like that, but the pain in my back is more than I can handle.
Washing the dishes wrecks my back, probably due to my big belly. Losing weight will help me but I can only speak for myself.
Yes, when you hold your arms out away from your body and deal with any object at all it puts tons of pressure on your low back. I would imagine you have lots of inflammation going on down there, possibly messing with your nerves, but maybe just the muscles. I’m not a doctor obviously, and I think you should see one to find out what exactly is going on, but in the meantime, I think it’s safe to say you want to get the swelling down. So normal steps for swelling that your doc has had you do in the past, things like advil, ice, rest, heating pad, you know comfort and general healing measures.
I let mine go too long and ended up with bulging discs, so I caution you to seek out your doctor for help and try not to do activities that hurt until you talk to your doc if at all possible. I hope you feel better.
I don’t have back pain but if I’m stressed my back muscles get very tense and I get dizzy and uncomfortable. I guess I’m lucky since back pain is very common.
If i stand or walk quite a lot at a time my lower back starts to play up. It’s not so bad if I use the walker I have. The thing being that using the walker when I can walk without it makes me feel I’m letting myself down. A lot of the problem re my back can be attributed to an odd gait and poor posture. I’ve always had an odd gait and rather poor posture. The negative effects of it have increased as I’ve got older. My (s) daughter and a granddaughter have said I stand more upright when using the walker.
I have pain in my middle back. I did PT for it, seemed to help a little, but not that much. I was referred to a back specialist, but never got a call from them, eventually gave on figuring out what’s wrong. My physical therapist thought I have a pinched nerve, but idk. The only thing that relieves the pain is resting it.
One thing that helped a lot was being put on Cymbalta. It was prescribed to me as an AD, but it’s also good for certain types of chronic pain. The pain used to get excruciating when I stood for too long, but now it’s much more manageable.
Where my back meets my tailbone hurts a lot. I landscaped for a long time. Pretty sure a disc is out of place. Just sitting here in thebrecliner i can feel my lower back hurting. Doing dishes my back cramps up. If i drive for more than an hour i can barely walk
Hi Crimby
I had back trouble wen I was fatter.
I think being overweight can give me back trouble wen I gain loads in quick time.
Life sucks.
I have had sciatica on and off for a while.
All the doctor told me was to buy heat patches, but they’re 16.99 for 3 and last only 24 hours each
Wasn’t convinced by it, so just got on with it
Might be due to the manual labour I did
Threw my back out when i was 21. It’s never been the same since. I struggle with it daily…some worse than others.
I find ibuprofen taken regularly for a week helps it when it gets really bad
My back pain comes and goes. I can no longer afford chiropractic care but when I could it helped me a lot
I’m more than a little overweight myself, and all the excess weight is concentrated on my belly, but I’ve been losing weight lately. I hope that keeps on going.
Don’t they have electric heat pads? You might check into that.
My pain is getting to a near intolerable level tonight.
I fell off my bicycle about 12 years ago and burst a disc in my back…over a few days I had pain, tingling, and numbing of my right leg while driving. They went in with surgery and repaired the burst disc and fixed another that was bulging. The pain after the surgery was incredibly bad but I’ve never had back pain again afterwards (or, at least, no disc pain… I’ve had pain when I’ve overdone physical activity).
Ouch! I’m sorry you are suffering. I’ve wondered if muscle relaxers help with back pain. You might check that out.
I have disc degeneration disease. L3 thru l5 and base of neck area are really bad. If i turn too quick i can become parralized from waiste or neck down.
Whew! I’m sorry you have this condition. You can always commiserate with someone on this site.
I had back pain when my bed had something wrong with is (very worn out). Similarly I had backpain this year because I spent so much time in a computer chair that was very worn out (no padding, and extremely limited back support)
I saw some good exercises for back pain that helped me. I would definitely check out some on youtube if you are in pain.
I’m not in constant pain. The pain starts when I try to do something with my hands. I just realized that I am sitting and typing, and I don’t feel pain. But usually the pain gets worse when do things with my hands.
