Hey friends. My back is killing me right now. I was just chilling in the kitchen. Got something out of the oven and whamo! Extreme pain in my lower middle back just above my butt. I can barely move without it feeling like my back will completely snap in half and I’ll be paralysed or something lol.
Its happened a few times over the past year or so. It takes ages to be able to move properly again and have no pain. Sometimes up to a week or so.
Anyone know of similar? Any tips? Ive taken ibuprofen and am trying not to move much. Still hurts. Im going to mention this to a doctor when I see one in about a week.
Don’t take my word for this but I’ve heard that with a lot of different back pain, laying down may seem like it helps but it’s actually bad for you. It helps to keep moving around.
I find this to be true with the degenerative arthritis in my lower back.
You might also want to take a muscle relaxer if your doctor approved it.
But it’s true for many back problems. i think the muscle relaxer I took was baclofen and it wasn’t a benzo, that I know of. When I couldn’t move without pain my doctor prescribed it along with ibuprofen.
You might have a bulging disc in your back that presses against your sciatic nerve when it gets inflamed. I burst a disc and when they did surgery to stop it from leaking fluid around my spinal cord they decided to repair the bulging disc below as well…it’s been 18 years and I haven’t “thrown my back out” since then. Push your doctor to let you get an MRI if your insurance covers it, as you said this has happened a few times this year. If you have a bulging disc, physical therapy, a back brace, or surgery might help. If it’s muscular in origin, then muscle relaxers might help.
Oh okay yeah my back feels like a serious deal to me. Like whatever is going on seems like its definitely something to be concerned about. And yeah just my instinct tells me that it isn’t muscle. Feels like bone or cartilage or something I dunno.
this is true for me. My back usually hurts most after I have lied down or sat for a long time and try to get up.
It also can act up while Im working, but it is worse during those times.
Edit : My arm joint pain is another story. Using my right arm in the wrong way definitely aggravates it, and makes it worse. I really need to get a few months off of using it excessively, I think. But this is hard with my current job.
I’ve a very painful lower back when I wake up in the morning. It makes getting out of bed difficult but eases during the day. Try lying on a hard floor and raising your knees.
That sucks yellowapple. And yeah I realised intuitively that when I lay in bed on my back it feels slightly better to raise my knees. Good to know it might actually be helpful.
My back pain is more like my psychosis in a way. Like im free of symptoms most of the time and then suddenly every blue moon im super crazy. Same with my back haha.
