Has anyone quit sugar (completely or almost completely)?

Did you feel better afterwards? I’m in the process of tapering down the soda I drink.

I had to quit sugars when I was pregnant.

I don’t know if I felt better.

It was an odd time.

I know that when I started sugars/carbs again, I felt like garbage,

So there’s that.

I used to put sugar in all my coffees. Very unhealthy. First I switched to sweetener. Now I only put a bit of milk in it.

I consume way too much sugar. I crave it for the dopamine rush I guess. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sugar is my big vice. I have much bigger battles to fight than cutting off my instant oatmeal, pop tarts and kool-aid. Lol

I did. Several times. First period is crap. I crave sugar like a street drug. Then it gets more happy and peaceful. And better. I recommend you give it a try.

For me, I made more radical changes though. Swapping junkfood for whole food. And dealing with food intolerances. To me, it feels like someone extingished a fire in my brain and gut. I wasn’t even aware of how much discomfort I had emotionally and physically, until it stopped. (Only PMS is still shitty). My loved ones say I’m a lot more pleasant to be around, my son flourishes. And I wish to throw rocks at the psychiatrist who refused to get me tested 8 years ago and said diet can’t change anything.

So yeah, if you feel sugar is a problem for you, do change.

I don’t put sugar in my coffee anymore and feel better now. I still drink sugary sodas though I can’t resist them lol.

I’ve just cut back a lot.

No more tea and coffee with sugar, no more soda.

Occasionally, I do drink some sugar free stuff or something that is low in sugar.

Also, I use some alternatives like Agave or Maple Syrup (I realize its still high glycemic though) but in small increments in some stuff like overnight oats. Just like a tablespoon or less.

It’s helped with weight loss, but it is still hard.

There’s underlying issues that are still at play that make me want to just gorge on a bunch of sweets even though I know I’m already full.

Big triggers can cause me to want to buy some chocolate peppermint patties or peanut butter cups…

I’m diabetic, so I cut back considerably but I did not eliminate sugar completely

I’ll eat the occasional dessert or once in a while I’ll add a teaspoon of sugar to my coffee
