Has anyone quit caffeine?

I want to quit caffeine this week because I don’t want to be addicted to it or anything else. I’d rather get enough sleep every night than have to consume caffeine every day to help me make it through the day.

What were your experiences with quitting caffeine? Did you taper down slowly or quit cold turkey? What withdrawals did you get?

I once quit for 30 days. I got a headache for the first 2 days. Then I was fine. Restarted and back on it though.

I tapered down, then quit by not having any in the house. Withdrawals were worse than I expected. Drinking decaffeinated coffee made it all possible. Best of luck.

I started drinking coffee regularly in 2010 when I started going to AA meetings. There have been times I went with little or no caffeine and I didn’t notice any withdrawal symptoms. I’ll find out this week what my withdrawals will be like.

I am addicted to coffee. When at the crisis center, caffein was not allowed. So that was the number one problem and other problems didn’t get the attention they needed. I wish they had allowed caffein.

We couldn’t have caffeinated coffee when I was at the psych ward in Fargo, ND or so I heard. It’s because caffeine interacts with some medications negatively.

I was never advised of this. We take meds with caffein at home all the time.

I need caffeine to prevent sedation, drowsiness and sleepiness from my 6mg Risperidone. I tried without caffeine and I ended up sleeping almost 24/7.

I gave up on ginseng once, the effect is similar to that of caffeine, it improved the Negative Symptoms, but it gave me a lot of anxiety

I tapered fairly slowly, mixing caffeinated and decaffeinated over a period of months. It made it really easy.

I have gone cold turkey before and it gave me a nasty headache.

I know caffeine interacts with lithium, it can lower the serum level of lithium in the blood.

I’ve always known that caffeine interferes with my sleep. So, I never drink it. I always drink decaffeinated.

Caffeine keeps me up at night if I drink it too close to my bed time.

I really don’t want to get headaches from withdrawals

I’m doing decaf atm. Homemade oat milk too, since milk seems to give me arthritic flareups.

Oat milk is good. My stepmom drinks it every day

This oat milk is giving my coffee a jelly-like consistency. It is novel.

I quit it for 8 months. I found much more benefit to having it instead of not having it.
